All over Los Angeles, lots of stores have begun decorating for Halloween. I just love this one storefront near my house. It's all decorated with pumpkins, goblins and witches. (Gasp!) And costume stores have begun opening up all over town. In every drug store and supermarket, there're huge displays of Halloween treats. Candy, cookies and little prepackaged cakes, they're all there waiting for you. And oh yeah, we tell ourselves that we're buying those treats to give out to the trick-or-treaters on Halloween night. But go on and admit it, you know that a lot of us begin rading the treats long before Halloween even arrives. But those little treats will play some not-so-nice tricks on your weight-loss program, you know. And that's why you have got to be careful! And uhhh, confession time, have you had one of those "treats" already?This month there will be parties you may attend before, during and after Halloween. So what I'm really trying to say is, you shouldn't be scared of my BOO! You should be scared of all the temptations you will face this month. But, not to worry, you can beat them!As I told you yesterday, the next three months will be the toughest ones you've faced all year. They're tough months for losing weight, I mean. You can't skip exercise anymore for the rest of this month. October has 31 days and that means you should be doing 31 hours of exercise this month. You've got to get your stretching in each day and you know the rest of my formula, right? That's four days of cardio and three days of toning. You have to plan your meals this month. Even when you go out to dinner or to a party, you have to plan what you're going to be eating. You know that just like all candies, Halloween candy is fattening! Oh, so much sugar and fat! I mean, have you considered how many fruit, fat and dairy windows all of those sweet treats would cost on your FoodMover? Think about it!You may also be challenged by the words of some people you know or come in contact with this month. Someone may say something negative to you or about you. Hey, there are some angry and sometimes nasty people roaming this earth and they can't wait to spread their negative feelings around to others. But please don't allow their thoughts to tarnish the way you feel about yourself. In spite of the negativity that may be around you, try to always keep your sprits upbeat and positive. Hey, If someone says something nasty to me, and there've been a few who have, I simply overlook their rudeness, close my eyes and say a little prayer for them.Now, if you've been on program these last nine months, you should have lost anywhere from 45-60 pounds so far, depending on your starting weight. And if you put your mind and soul into taking good care of yourself this month, you could lose another five pounds in October. And I know that would make you happy, wouldn't it? I know that a lot of you out there have some difficulty going to parties and being around all of that food. But you've got to take a deep breath and let yourself know that you're a lot more important than a plate of cupcakes made in the shape of little pumpkins!I want you to really shine during the month of October. I want you to lose five more pounds this month. I want you to dance with me and tone with me. And I want you to eat right. I want you to create meals that will satisfy you while nourishing your body at the same time. And don't you dare let anyone upset you this month or they'll have to face me! Don't be afraid this month.
