Hope you are all having a great week. I've been feeling puny since TOM showed up last week, so I have been online very minimally.

Tomorrow is mom's surgery, so I will probably not be around much this weekend and we'll see what next week holds.

I am still here!It has been an interesting week for me. Had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday morning. I knew I needed to get in and see her. I am diabetic. Been taking oral meds. Have been watching my blood sugars start to go up. And to be honest, have not been feeling real good. Didn't feel bad; just didn't feel good. Haven't been exercising; just because I haven't felt good.My doctor told me it is time for me to start using insulin. I was able to get into the Diabetic Clinic yesterday and met with a diabetic educator. She also adjusted some of my high blood pressure meds. Started the insulin yesterday and I have to admit that I am feeling better. Just need to work on getting the right dosage determined.Just been

If only it would stop raining! Well, yesterday it did, but now the 10

day forcast has rain every single freaking day! Plants are drowning,

everyone with arthritis is in pain and cranky, moods and dismal and

everyone is ready to bite everyone else's head off.

With the dampness, my arthritis is screaming at me. I've been trying to

do modified versions of a Sweatin' video every morning but get only

about 15 - 20 minutes into it and just have to click to the cool down

and stop, because if I put any more weight on the leg my hip is going to

go out on me. Add to this the pain of the plantar fasciitis in the

opposite foot PLUS arthritis in both feet, and you'll see why I can't

even use exercise to improve my mood. My fingers are so stiff and achy

I have to call someone to open even easy-open tops for me.

Enough already with the rain!!!

We were supposed to go to the annual Filippino festival the next city

over on the NYC harbor waterfront on Sunday. Last year we were just

about to leave when the skies opened so we didn't go. Good thing,

because the tents & canopies were all blown over, vendors lost a lot of

their merchandise, one tent was hit by lightning, and a few people got

hurt with slip-and-falls on the brickwork in the street. That was the

second year they had rain for the festival in its 4 year history. It

looks like this year is again going to be rained out. Not fair! I had a

list of stuff I wanted to buy from vendors that I know show up at that

festival, vendors selling jewelry, fabric, even religious items, like

saint statues. We have *no one* in this area that sells any of that

stuff. This year my son and his friends made plans to meet there, too.

My son has a very international group of friends, and he's usually the

only white kid in a group consisting of Egyptian, Thai, Japanese, and a

number of Filippinos. They were going to grab some food and oogle the

girls while looking for a Japanese ma jong tile set. The guys might

still go, even in a thunderstorm, but not Ed and I. I guess I'll have to

do without eating meat on a stick for yet another year.

I really hope, for your sake, that the doc tells you you're eligible for

that procedure you want done. That should really help in this respect.
