But then I dont do HP either. I made cranberry soap last year and wanted ot swirl it with Red Iron Oxide, but the fo accelerated the trace, it got very thick, too thick to swirl, so I ended up with soap that was half reddish and half natural. Dried cranberries would work nicely. But I came to tell you I will not be sending anything in to the soap swap. My printer broke down and I did not want to send my soap naked I did not have any thing real nice I wanted to send . so I will have to get in on the nest one. Guest guest Posted February 9, 2003 Report Share Posted February 9, 2003 Hi All, Things are certainly not quiet onboard the Elgin, we are having a radical rethink of our Emergency team training and Core Crew training, with the departure of the Drilling Rig from our Satellite platform in the next few weeks, we are going to have to send Intervention teams across on a regular basis, so we have been in deep discussion about what they will need to carry with them and the qualifications and training that will be needed. On a personnel note, both I and my back to back need to update our ACLS/ATLS qualifications soon. Anyone know of training establishments in Scotland or Norfolk that do these courses. Otherwise try telephoning vaarious major hospitals and asking to speak to the Resuscitation training team / officer and they should be able to tell you what is being run locally. You may have to shop around for places as there can be quite a lot of competition to get on them. I have some recollection there was a sandstorm there many moons ago which buried a house. Lovely flat wide beach with shallow water very quiet place. Guest guest Posted November 29, 2003 Report Share Posted November 29, 2003 Hello everyone We had a good Thanksgiving, although a quiet one. Mike is working the whole holiday, although he can leave early and be on call for the rest of the day. It was just the 4 of us for dinner, and we limited what we cooked so we wouldn't have leftovers from now until Christmas. We didn't shop yesterday, but we are heading out today to do some shopping. I had started Christmas shopping already, so I am ahead of where I was this time last year. Both and have enjoyed this break from school, although they are also looking forward to going back Monday. The weather here was warm on Thanksgiving and Friday. Friday was cloudy with high winds all day, 20 miles an hour with gust up to 35. I love windy days. In the afternoon the rain came through, and by 9pm the temperature had dropped into the 40's, still with the high winds. Today the high will be in the 50's. I always shop better for Christmas if the weather is cool. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Sharon H. TJ has been home all week - so I've had my family room full of young adults most of the week. I lost my TV to Xbox I take TJ back tomorrow - I only have to drive half way - my father is meeting me (and bringing a Christmas yard decoration that I can't find in VA). Tomorrow night, I am spending the night with MIL in Baltimore - has an EEG scheduled on Monday morning. His last two trips to KKI were awful - this time I am hoping Tim's 2 cousins will accompany us. Tim has a meeting in Atlantic City and can't be with us for the EEG. I braved a trip to Walmart yesterday. Two of our toilets were plugged up and Tim need a wet vac to suck out the water before attempting to get out whatever was in there (small shampoo bottle that flushed down - successfully removed and a tennis ball that is still stuck). I arrived at 10:00 and it wasn't that crowded. My Christmas shopping days are December 13th and 19th. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. This is my second, and I am still adjusting to factoring work time in the holiday season, along with shopping, kid's parties at school, decorating, wrapping, etc.. I will probably do some shopping on line like always. I would also like to find some time to do Christmas baking for friends, neighbors, and to get Christmas cards out this year, however I won't stress about those things. Hopefully the tree will go up tomorrow, and outdoor decorations also. This year I have to work Christmas Eve night, so I have to have all of Christmas ready to go before I leave for work, so after the kids are in bed, Mike can get everything in place. As I write this, I'm also fixing our Thanksgiving dinner. My mom, brother and his wife are coming today around 12 for our dinner. Even if they don't show, (which happens alot with my family), I'm loving cooking for my girls. After meals of Hamburger Helper and fast food most of the week, this is great. The pumpkin pies are baked, the turkey is roasting and all the other stuff is in the works! We are also putting up the Christmas tree while cooking!! I love hearing Karrie tell me " Good morning, Mommy " as she stumbled into the kitchen. After telling her what I was doing (she always asks that first thing every morning), she hugged me. Kate came into the kitchen and asked what she can do to help. I love my kids!! How did I ever wind up with the two beautiful children? Hope all is well with everyone today. Your concerns are in my prayers and you are all in my thoughts today, since you all are part of my family. Anyway, at work we have a cookie exchange. We each bring in so many, have lunch and then walk around the table and pick up a package from each display. 20 of us participated last year and some of my coworkers go all out. Also, I got a notice the other day from the Vocational Center - they are also selling assorted trays for Christmas (each tray has 15 types of cookies). I'm picking up a couple dozen - some for Tim to give out at work and some for others. I will make galettes - which is an Italian waffle cookie (not pizzelles) that melts in your mouth! I can only do four at a time in my waffle iron - and I make about 12 dozen or more each year. This year I am going to Tim's Christmas party. He will be the union president for his local as of January 1st and he said as First Lady, I must go. I told him I'm not Regan but more like Eleanor Roosevelt Anyway, I have to run out sometime before Thursday and get a fancy dress. doesn't know this yet - but she is watching all night and will have to get him on the bus in the morning...LOL! Guest guest Posted November 29, 2003 Report Share Posted November 29, 2003 We had a lovely Thanksgiving. left at 6:00am to drive across town to go to KMart because they had a one day sale on gameboys. He got in line and waited until they opened at 7 and then when he got to the gameboys they said sorry on the first 40 who received coupons get them then they're out. Bummer. Of course, had never experienced the shopping mess this time of year. It was fun to hear his story about the awful experience. I told him that line was nothing compared to the lines the day after Thanksgiving. My sister and her family drove in from New Mexico and arrived at 3:00am Thursday. My neice, a sophmore in college brought a boyfriend with her. This is a first. They slept while we got the turkey started. My parents and my brothers family also joined us and we had a house full. It was great fun. My sister left yesterday to go visit her husbands family. We have a friend from Kansas City coming down to stay for the rest of the weekend. That means no left overs tonight-we're going out for dinner! Yeah! We put up the Christmas tree yesterday. Now I need to get the rest of the house decorated. Hopefully it will stay nice so that we can get the outside lights up without freezing. We are hosting part of a progressive dinner in a couple of weeks, so the house has to look festive! Thank goodness they all come at different times and we take turns eating. It was great day and my boys love all of their family at our house. We are busy building a float for our local Festival of Lights Parade that is next Saturday. The Down Syndrome group enters every year, Dave is the builder, and we have won something every year. This year we have a western theme ( " Down " Home Christmas) with a western band and all. I think it is going to be the best :-)! mom to 11 and Noah 3 both with Down syndrome Colo. A great american dish I got the taste for in Hong Kong curtesy of an amercian lady I became good friends with. Can't get the tinned pumkkin here that she made the pie with so I can only drool and reminice! I'm not relaxing, (tho I am actively trying to avoid essay writing), no thanks giving in the UK, and am up to my eyeballs in essays of various descriptions, one due next week and two more the 18th december. Christmas is on hold until then except for advent calenders which my children reminded me I needed to fill with goodies this weekend! tim has a rather splendid calender from playmobile which some friends gave him for his birhtday. He never fails to suck the usual gooodies in his usual calender and then throw them away sticky but uneaten, so this year instead of sweetie goodies he has got a little play mobile toy to put onto a kind of christmas set. It builds up over the 14 days into a set of children playing in the snow and father christmas delivering toys. Guest guest Posted November 30, 2003 Report Share Posted November 30, 2003 Things have settled into quiet mode for us as well. I showed up Tuesday evening with Jan's younger brother and a cousin. We flew in together from California. Wednesday was hectic, getting the turkey, building the table to allow 23 people to eat together, moving the sofas into the dining room and setting up the table diagonal in the living room. Not much room to spare. My older brother and his wife picked us up at the airport on Tuesday and stayed around through Wednesday, sometimes helping and sometimes just in the way. We ended the day with the table set for the event and just enough chairs for everyone. Wednesday night my brother and SIL went to a motel and were back Thanksgiving in the late morning. I cooked the Turkey and made the gravy. Steve (Jan's brother) made three batches or rolls .. one his classic onion dill and the other olive rolls). My wife made her chiffon pumplin pies and cooked the beans. People really started coming around noon with a brother and his friend up by train from NY, a sister over from Connecticut, two of my older brother's kids with their families (two kids each), and one of that brother's grandson's who had come over from school at Cornell. Boating and hiking in the warmth and sun of the early afternoon, followed by dinner a little after 4 pm. We had a full house pulling three mattresses out for kids to sleep on the floor, but it was a really good time. Friday, I took the Cornell student to the train so he could go to NY for a few hours of sight seeing before taking the bus to Ithaca. Later in the day I took Steve to the train so he could go see his friends in NY. Nick, the Berkeley student who came home with us (his family is in Holland) and I went to a computer fair yesterday. I got a DVD writer so that I can make back-ups of Jan's DVD's. She is really hard on them, watching videos over and over and over. It seems better to give her copies on one dollar blanks and to keep the working originals for the next time she needs copies. Anyway, I want to back up my computers on disks that hold more than CDR's. This morning Jan and I took Nick to the airport to go back to CA. Steve was already there. He went there last night after seeing friends until late and spent the night in the airport. We got up at 4 am to do that. Jan and I took a nap after coming home and then went out shopping to get supplies to fix up and repaint the kitchen ceiling. After lunch we took a walk. She was pretty low on energy, so it was only about a mile. We met the woman who lives next door near the end of our walk and came home with her. Life is good .. day by day. Jan's still hanging in, although she isn't yet maintaining her weight. Maybe today will be better. She got a big dish of vanilla ice cream to eat on our shopping trip.
