I am a long way from 28 weeks but he might need time to order the mercury free version. If you have made the decision to not have the shot, why does he need time to order the mercury free version? I agree w/many on this list that say mercury is not the only problems w/these shots. Holly ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Well I’m not sure how he’s going to react to me not wanting the shot. My dh d/n want to do a homebirth. I could ask the nurse to just toss it and say she did I will find out more at my first appointment. I do think it’s worth asking. And there’s not another OB in town I want to use. There is a lay midwife 45 mins away but if my water breaks, she won’t have time to get here. Guest guest
I would tend to agree --- what is it supposed to do? And if it was that necessary, why did we manage to go thousands of years without it? Also, if other countries don't do it, then that really makes me question why we do! I've had three babies and they wanted to give it to me every time and I said NO every time -- more from fear of needles at the time, but very glad now. I was kicked out of my doctor's office for refusing the shot. This is an important issue though. If they don't respect this decision, what else will THEY decide for you to do. It is your decision. A doctor's purpose is to recommend specific action based on their education and experience. It is the patient's job to decide to follow or not. Guest guest
> JUST SAY NO The OB that I'm seeing (as back-up for my home birth) didn't have any arguments when I declined the 28 week Rhogam shot. He didn't give me any grief last time either. He was perfectly fine with my midwife testing the baby's blood and then calling in a script to my pharmacy when the baby tested positive. (I'm not one of those ladies who's brave enough to go without the post-partum dose.) I didn't actually realize that even though I'm O- and DH is O+ that there's a 15% (or so) chance of having a baby that's negative. I was hoping the last two times that I'd luck out. Didn't work out that way. I guess the third time could be the charm though. in IN Loving wife to Fred (03/18/00) Proud mama to: Abigail Frances (8/13/02, homebirth transfer) Frederick Leland V (7/9/05, born at home!) Guest guest
I skipped the 28 week shot and my dr. raised one eyebrow and said " Are you sure this is your last child? Isoimmunity is a serious thing. " That wasn't even my objection but he didn't ask so i didn't tell. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Sick sense of humor?
