Guest guest
This past week has been an eye-opening experience and has given me some new motivation for getting all of this weight of of me!Last night I got home from a week-long stay at my parents' home in North Dakota. (It felt so good to sleep in my own bed last night!) Both of my parents were hospitalized with complications from a nasty stomach flu bug that is going around their community. (We got it while we were there too.) Both of my parents are diabetic and having the flu really messed up their systems.Mom has been essentially home bound for a few years now. She has peripheral neuropathy as a result of her diabetes. Dad is her primary caregiver. While in the hospital, we found out that Dad is in renal failure. Has an appointment with a specialist later this week. He is on a really strict diet now -- low salt, no phosphorus, very low protein. So, right now they are both essentially home bound; but both are determined to stay in their own home as long as possible. They are now on home health care and we will wait and see how that goes.I look at my parents and see myself in about 20 years. I am diabetic also -- with both parents diabetic it isn't a real big surprise. I don't want to have the health concerns and issues that they have. I don't want to end up sitting in my house day after day.I know what I am supposed to be doing. I just haven't been doing it. My motivation has been almost non existent for a long time. I am also going to be starting to exercise again. What I need to do is:1. Record and keep track of what and how much I am eating.2. Plan menus.3. Exercise.Doing those three things are the key things to my living a healthier lifestyle and I will start to lose weight.Dacia<>< Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
