Day 1-

Scale's down today. The author of the book suggests we can weigh daily during the challenge, weigh only when we want to or wait until the end if we want. That would drive me crazy, as well as weighing daily would. I weighed just because I wanted to see if the retention is leaving.

Whatever I decide to do, I won't report anything here numbers-wise or count anything until my WW day. I'm just glad to see the sodium, etc are flushing out. Thank God.

Today was a green day. I exercised: Curves *and* c25k (20 min worth) 'jogging' on the jog-o-lean. That was because I CHOSE to have a slice of pie with whipped topping after having eaten "enough" points for the day (LOL) - still ended up counting about 7 FPs for the week. I suppose that is ok, that is what they are for <wink>

Day one's reading in the "100 Days" book was called "I used to be that way" and how we shouldn't compare ourselves or efforts to past attempts. Sure, do what works, but don't say "I can't do this because..." Write a new ending.

Today's assignment:

Make a list of any fears or negative behaviors that have hurt your weight-loss success in the past. Read each one out loud, and then say, "I used to be that way, but now I'm different." Then write new endings for them by completing this sentence: I used to _______ (fill in your old behavior), but now I _______ (write in your new ending). Read these new outcomes often, and then live in a way that makes them true.

So far so good.

Day 2 we discuss the difference between being interested in losing weight vs. being committed. People that are interested in losing weight tend to stay with their plans only until something better comes along. When you're truly committed to achieving your goals, you have a different outlook. You do what it takes, no matter what.

Decide that you will always be committed to your weight-loss plan, not just interested Describe how you will stick with your program, no matter what Do at least one thing today that demonstrates you are truly committed. (i.e. eat your veggies or go for a walk, no matter what)

Day 3 is titled "Do it Anyway" - identify what you don't want to do and do it anyway (exercise, eat right, drink water, etc) Then we talk about the differences more between interested and committed.

Interested:

stick with it until something better comes along take action only if they "feel like" doing it need to see results in order to stay motivated blame people or circumstances for their struggles easily give up when they face challenges

Committed:

stick with their plans no matter what take action whether they feel like doing it or not assume that if they stay motivated, results will follow take responsibility for their own actions keep going in spite of challenges and setbacks

So, are you interested in losing weight or committed to losing weight? Remember back to day 1's reading, we aren't supposed to compare to past efforts unless you are changing it around to a new way of thinking: "I used to _______ but now I ________." I would say I lean to being more committed than not. :-)

And this is really a great way to keep the focus during this first 100 days of the year. (( P.s. in spite of the gain at WW this week, the scale's down at home again, so this has been a great week. I'd hate to see the number on the scale had I had the Chinese or not gotten rid of the chocolate ))
