Guest guest
's Daily Message WednesdayDecember 19, 2007BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER, SNACK The other day in my Project Me class at Slimmons, I had everyone write down what they had eaten the day before. I told them, before writing down what they ate, to really think long and hard to make sure they remembered and wrote down all they`d eaten. As they began writing, you could see some of them looking up towards the ceiling, pencils in hand trying to remember everything they ate the day before. After a few minutes, I had all of their pieces of paper in hand, listing everything they had eaten on yesterday. I want you to let me share a couple of those food sheets with you. No names! Lady A) Breakfast: Two sausage patties and a bagel. Lunch: Two cheese enchiladas, rice, beans and a Diet Coke. Dinner: At a friend`s dinner party...Two crab cakes, two beef shish kebab, three stuffed mushrooms, four chicken wings and a slice of apple pie with eggnog ice cream. Snacks: Six mini-Reeses Peanut Butter cups. Hey, that food sheet made me hungry just telling you about it! What a smorgasbord of food! LOL. I looked at what she`d eaten and figured it had to be well over 3,000 calories. Lady Breakfast: Christmas cookies and a glass of milk. Lunch: More Christmas cookies, a Diet Coke and a hot dog. Dinner: Skipped it. Snacks: A handful of M & M`s. Now, let`s admit, that`s a pretty pitiful choice of foods for the day, isn`t it? Just how much sugar was in her stomach for that one day of eating do you think? So, if you had to write a food sheet of what you ate yesterday, how would your sheet read? The reason I made my Deal-A-Meal in the first place and, later, the FoodMover is that I created them both because we all need to learn to be more accountable for what we eat. Working with dietitians and nutritionists, I made it very easy for everyone to learn how to keep track of their daily food intake. And since most people don`t like to do food sheets, my Deal-A-Meal and FoodMover gives them a better way to be in control of their eating habits. You see, if you eat too many calories and fat grams, you will definitely gain weight, no doubt about it. And if you eat too few calories, your body may go into starvation mode and hold on to the calories you eat. But if you`re supposed to be on 1600 calories a day and really stay on program, you will lose weight, every single month. With the FoodMover, I`ve taken the six food groups and show you how much of each you should have on your weight-loss journey. That way, when you have a three-ounce piece of chicken, you know to close three protein windows. If you have a small apple, you would close one fruit window. See how easy? Take pride in the breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks you feed your body. And be wise about it. I know we`re in the middle of the holiday season. But are you staying on program during this festive time of year? And, let me ask...where is your FoodMover? Love,
