's Daily Message TuesdayNovember 27, 2007CHEATIN' ON YOU?

I received a very sad E-mail a few days ago. The lady who sent it told me she was crying as she wrote me. She was a single mom of four daughters.

She told me that one day, her husband walked into the living room and told her that she was no longer attractive to him, her being as fat as she was.

He said he wanted to be with someone he could be proud to take out on the town, instead of embarrassed to be seen with. My heart just dropped as I read her letter. Doesn`t yours, as I tell you about this guy?

Well, the divorce came and after they were divorced, she gained an additional 100 pounds. She told me that she was afraid...afraid that she wouldn`t be around to raise her four daughters. But she also told me that she was really serious about losing the weight this time. She was ready and asked for my help and suggestions.

That same day I read her E-mail, I called her. We had a really nice chat together. I`m sure she told me some things she had never told anyone before. I just listened intently, as she talked to me.

She told me she had been doing pretty good with her food the last week. So I asked her what some of her meals had been.

What did you have on Sunday, I asked?

Her voice became a little hesitant, Oh, , do I have to talk about the breakfast I had on Sunday? My neighbors went to IHOP and brought me a ham and cheese omelet, hash browns, bacon and a waffle.

And who ate all of that, I asked her?

I did, she replied, because I think it`s okay to cheat a little, once in a while.

Well, I almost fell out of my chair! I mean, when you weigh over 300 pounds, you don`t get to cheat. After all, that's how you reached 300 pounds in the first place, by cheating!

Really, should a person who weighs 300 pounds be having an omelet, hash browns, bacon and a waffle all in one meal?

Should a 300 pound person be consuming 40-50 grams of fat for breakfast? How do you lose weight eating that way, huh? I mean, let`s face it, to gain weight, you have to cheat...a lot. But let me ask you, my friends, who are you cheating, really, when you eat like that?

Well, you're cheating yourself, that's who!

Consider this: If you`re dating someone and they cheat on you, you wouldn`t like that very much, would you? And let`s say you own or manage a business and discovered one of your employees had been cheating by taking cash. You certainly wouldn`t like that very much, either.

But...you feel like it`s okay to cheat on yourself when it come to what and how much you eat? Come on now, where's the logic? Don`t you think you deserve to lose this weight so you can move on with your life?

Many of you have been diet professionals for years. And when you have that hot dog at 10:30 in the morning or when the doorbell rings at 10:30 at night for the pizza delivery man, these little cheating episodes only add to your weight.

And with every extra spoonful of food you put into your body, you`re only shortening your life span. Get it? That means you`re cheating yourself out of your own life. So, please, stop cheatin`, you cheatin` heart, you!

I know how much you really want to lose this weight and you know, as well as me, that cheatin` ain`t gonna get you to your goal.

So be true and honest with yourself, with your eating habits and with your exercise program today, tomorrow, the next day and...everyday!

No cheatin'!

Love,
