Guest guest
's Daily Message SaturdayDecember 15, 2007MY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING DAY MY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING DAY Well, today is my big Christmas shopping day. After today`s class at Slimmons, I`ll clean myself up, get in my little truck, and take myself shopping! I really prefer to shop alone. Shopping with someone else can be fun. But, I really prefer to shop by myself. When someone is with me, it kind of interferes with my shopping rhythm. Santa`s not the only one with a list. I go shopping with my own list... and, yes, I`ll be checking it twice! And I don`t return home until I get everything I set out to get on my list, too! I have about six stores to visit today. I`ve been going to these stores for over 25 years. Of course as I run into each store, I sing to all the employees as I wish them holiday cheer. Then I browse around each store until I find the perfect gift for each person on my list. At all the stores I visit, there will usually be plates of holiday cookies, candy or even some fudge. Oh boy, all there for the taking! And although I want a taste of this and that, I always say no because we know where those treats go after they get into your tummy. I`ll just leave them for Santa! The store employees always ask ", do you want any of these items gift wrapped?" My answer is always a "No, thank you" because I really like to wrap my presents myself. Tonight, I`ll build a cozy fire in the living room fireplace. Then I`ll clear everything off the big table in there to make room for my gift wrapping fun! Hattie and Dolly will be sitting, warming themselves next to the fireplace watching me make these big, beautiful bows for the packages. Oh, I just love making bows! In fact, sometimes my fabulous bows are bigger than the packages themselves! I And when I present my gifts, they always ask if I wrapped them myself. I`m always so proud to tell them...yes, I did! I remember when I was a kid, I used to peek into the living room and see my parents wrapping packages. Gosh, my folks taught me everything I know about wrapping presents. And I just loved shopping for my folks, Leonard and Shirley. I loved watching them unwrap the gifts I had wrapped so perfectly. I loved watching their eyes as they opened each box to see what I had gotten them. I loved buying clothes for my Dad because he was such a fantastic dresser. And for Shirley, I`d always get her jewelry. Sometimes I would put the her present in another box, then another and watched as she kept unwrapping boxes until she finally got to the jewelry box with her real present in it! LOL! I`ll take all of my shopping memories along with me this afternoon. If you`re shopping today, like I am, be sure to bring your happy shopping memories along with you, too!
