How many letters do you think I get each week that say, ", my life is so full that I just don`t have time for exercise. What should I do?" Well, how many letters do you think come in with that question? I`m not going to keep you guessing. I get thousands! Oh...time! Sometimes it works for us and sometimes it doesn`t. Remember when you started reading Time? (The magazine, I mean.) Or do you remember your first watch? My father bought me my first one, it was a Mickey Mouse watch. My next watch after that featured Howdy Dooty. I used to stare at my watch all day long, especially at school, waiting for both hands on it`s face to hit "12!" Lunch time! There were clocks in every room of our house and my mother saw to it that every one of them displayed the same correct time. Most of us grew up with parents who often didn`t have enough time for themselves. They worked very hard so they could take good care of us. Let me ask you, how many of your parents worked out everyday, as in, they made time for exercise? I would guess, not too many. You see, we were not brought up in environments that included lots of exercise. Many of our parents left this earth too early because they suffered from a weight or weight-related medical problem that could have been avoided, had they taken better care of themselves. Now, I know you`re all busy. Many of you are married with children and have jobs. Some of you are even doing all of this while going to school, too. All the while, time keeps ticking away. Hey, the clock never takes a break. But if you say you don`t have time for exercise, you have to fugure out why. My belief is that no one should ever be so busy that their day doesn`t include time to really move their bodies. Look, we all get the same amount of time, 24 hours in a day, right? But have you ever really analyzed what you do with the 24 hours you get each day? Well, you should. Here`s a way for you to do that. Take a sheet of paper and number it, one through 24. Each number represents an hour in your day. Now, in each space, fill out what you do with those hours. You know how many hours you sleep, right? You also know how long it takes to get to work and come home. Fill in the spaces for the time you are at work, of course. By the time you finish, you`ll have an idea of how much time you spend each day, doing all of the things you have to do in that day. After you`ve finished filling your page out, it's time to get to work on your "T.M.", your Time Management. Can you get up a little earlier and work out? Can you use your lunch hour at work to take a walk? Can you exercise the minute you get home and watch a little less TV or spend less time at your computer? Instead of I-M at the keyboard, try a little T.M.! Every minute counts and, I promise, if you do analyze your day, you`ll find the time for your workouts, too. If you don't, I'm sad to say, you could very well end up like some of your parents. And I don't say that to scare you. As we get older and as the extra weight stays on your body, it can cause you so many mental and physical problems. I don`t want you to go through those problems. I have to make time for my exercise myself and, hey, I'm busy, too! Boop-boop-de-do! But...I like to be toned and cute and I want the same for you. So do your body a favor. Do some T.M. today!
