Guest guest
's Daily Message WednesdayMay 16, 2007LITE NITE Lite Nite, Lite Bite...I`ll eat like a pauper, tonight. There`s an old saying that goes like this: Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. I was raised to eat like a king for all three of my meals, though! LOL! (What, you too?) But I have to say that my parents really taught us to enjoy the evening meal. It was really the one time of day my family was all present, together, at the dinner table. At a young age, I got a "degree" in passing the bowls and platters! I really believe that the majority of the weight I gained over the years was there because of my love for those dinner meals. I still feel the way some of you probaby feel about dinner time, even today. I work all day and I work hard, just like you and as it gets closer to 6-6:30PM, I can`t wait to eat because dinner is my reward for a hard day`s work. And what a reward, huh? But, too many of us sit there, at dinner, eating way too much, clogging our arteries and our bodies. Is dinner your major meal of the day? If the answer is "yes", then you have to become a "dinner pauper," just like me. My two larger meals of the day are breakfast and lunch. For breakfast, I have my oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt or a little omelet made with mushrooms and low-fat cheese. Or sometimes I treat myself to a frozen waffle. I just love breakfast foods. I enjoy every bite as I sit in my kitchen watching the hummingbirds fly outside the window. Breakfast is my kingly meal. For lunch, I am a true prince. I`ll have, maybe, a breast of chicken with two or three vegetables. I`ll also have some fruit or a little chicken salad wrapped in a corn tortilla. And if there are any leftovers in the fridge, I'll do my "Groundhog Day" lunch. I like to enjoy lunch while looking through my e-mails, too. For dinner, is when I eat like a pauper. I`ll have a bowl of vegetable soup, a half-cup of pasta with a serving of diced chicken or grilled shrimp. And you know my favorite dinner is simply enjoying a big old healthy salad. I make dinner light so I can look and be bright the next day. If you are on a plateau or you want to see your weight drop every month, you've got to make it lite...at night. Now, you can`t make this transition overnight. It`ll take a few weeks to teach yourself to eat this way. At first, you may even feel a little punished. "Where the heck is the rest of my dinner?" But eating this way has always been a little secret of mine and I think you should try it, too. So what will you be having for dinner tonight? Have you thought about it yet? Have you planned it? You`ve gotta do it. Because without planning, you won`t see the results you want. E-mail me and tell me some of your own Lite-Nite bites!
