Guest guest
I haven't seen Tae-Bo Hip-Hop one yet. I'm still marveling over Yoga Booty Ballet. I've seen that infomercial like 10 times with the sound off and I always stare in amazement at everybody wiggling and flapping their arms. I guess maybe it would make more sense if I turned the volume up but I can't bring myself. On 11/26/05, nel82l05 <no_reply > wrote: > Has anyone seen this new program? Guest guest
Yep, Booty Ballet is another one. You didn't miss much with the volume down. Have you also heard of Zumba? It combines latin dancing with aerobics? The creators of that program, actually offer Zumba " certification " for instructors. *sigh* Good old fashion basic exercises have worked for years. Yet people feel the need to pay money for all these new videos. Wouldn't it be easier to stick with what works, and just go out dancing on the weekends for a little hip hop or latin dancing? lol I dunno, I suppose if it gets people to moving it's not completely in vain, and the creators make a little money in the process. Guest guest
Hi ! I don't wear a HRM or otherwise calculate calories expended, but I'm guessing that how many calories you burn is very individual and depends on your body weight for one thing - so a person who weighs more will burn more calories than a person who weighs less - my DH who is much bigger than me, might possibly get that much of a burn out of these.... I suppose it is possible to achieve that kind of calorie burn, but I doubt I ever have and from the TJ workouts that I have done, I don't see how it could be done w/ those workouts - to me, they seem to be solid intermediate level workouts - though Kathy reports that the new ones are harder. I agree, they should just say it is a fun activity that burns calories, but I guess plugging in a huge number like that gets more people to buy!!! It is also sort of misleading, b/c not everyone knows that many things go into how many calories an individual will burn during a particular activity and someone may buy these, workout, and think they burned 700 calories and then go splurge on a piece of cake and wonder why they aren't losing weight! In any event, these are fun workouts -- they definately have much more " fun factor " than 's Bootcamp! The ab work on the ab jam is tough, but it has a standing and lying portion, so if the lying down ab work hurts your neck or back you could just stick with the standing work. I have never done 's Bootcamp Abs, mostly b/c I hate to focus a whole workout on my abs unless it is Pilates - and I have heard complaints about it that are similar to yours and that just makes me not want to try it. But, to me the TJ abs workout is doable and it is only 20 min, and easily split up. The other TJ workouts I have done are fun, as I said, definately more fun than 's Bootcamp!! They have a bit more of a dancey feel and are not quite as " serious " I think you'd enjoy them! Good luck deciding! Guest guest
Welcome, Kim! I don't know much about Jazzercise, although I believe they do or did have videos at one point. I do have Turbo Jam and it is quite a bit of fun, high energy, and you can do everything low impact. There are two background exercisers who modify all the high impact (and there really isn't all that much - that is one thing I like about kickboxing - you can get some good intensity without too much impact!) Hope you post often! Donna --- Kim <digibiz2@...> wrote: > Hi, > > I'm new to the group. Nice to meet all of you. I > was wondering if > Turbo Jam is all high energy, low-impact. Guest guest
Welcome! In the infomercial package she has 2 folks showing low impact moves, so you don't have to do all the bouncing stuff. The only place you can get them online right now is at the beachbody website which can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/8au73 I know they got rid of a lot of the discount codes so I'm not sure which ones if any work any longer, this one might still work SERTTJ. Also, if you go to www.ebates.com and then choose beachbody from their stores list and go to the beachbody site that way you get 15% cash back. They credit your account with them and then send you a check or to Paypal quarterly. On 2/25/06, Kim <digibiz2@...> wrote: Hi,I'm new to the group. Nice to meet all of you. Hi kim!!! welcome to the group! > I was wondering if > Turbo Jam is all high energy, low-impact. Guest guest
Ricki, Turbo Jam ROCKS! You can make it as high or low impact as you like! I teach the gym version, Turbo Kick, and because of the toe injury will demonstrate high impact options a few times but do most of the workout low impact after that. Just do what feels right for you and HAVE FUN! You'll still get a great workout and burn calories doing it low impact, and usually Mindy of the Turbo Jam gang shows the low impact options and you can always follow her

Guest guest
Welcome and congratulations on your weight loss! There are people here who LOVE TJ and others (me included) who don't like it much. I am choreographically-impaired so anything that involves dance and/or combinations tends to elude me unless it is extremely simple. TJ's music is very fun and Chalene is great. I like kickboxing but not the way it is put together in TJ. I also can't do the "tuck" she wants you to do all the time because it hurts my back. All that said, TJ has tons of very enthusiastic supporters. I think of it though as cardio, not toning but maybe I don't know enough about it because I didn't even get past her Learn & Burn workout. Others who know more will probably chime in soon. Good luck to you in any case and please let us know how it or other workouts are for you! Turbo Jam I am on my Last 10lbs & I want to make maximum my toning. Any comments on Turbo Jam.

Guest guest
if its resistance/toning work karen voight, kathy smith, amy bento, cathe friedrich, and denise austin have been staples in my collection. not sure what kind you are looking for. karen and denise work with lighter weights, faster movements and shorter works while kathy you can go more moderate. she has several different types of workouts as well pilates inspired, circiut training, or straight set workouts. amy and cathe do more straight set strenght training working one body part at a time for so many sets and it can be a total body workout, upper/lower only workout or one body part a day workout. if you check out collagevideo.com you can search toning only dvds and what level you want and even go by what equipment you have or willinging to buy for a workout.
