All that exercise and water finally kicked in. Last two weeks I was up 0.8 each week, today....

DOWN 3.4 LBS! YES!!

Of course, the exercise is good but I think the water helped too. One thing the water aerobics instructor said the other night really stuck with me. If you are exercising, and stretching and moving muscles, one thing you are doing is releasing toxins built up in your system, plus waste products that the muscles generate from being used so much. If you don't drink a lot of water, your body cannot process, break-down and release those toxins. I had brought a water bottle with me but it was too far away to access while IN the pool; I should be leaving it at pool's edge. It seems funny, but I get very thirsty while in the pool (smile).

Here's another thing I had noted recently. I've been wearing contact lenses for years. Sometimes, it's VERY hard to take the lenses out at night. I finally made the connection that this happened more when I was too busy or stressed because I wasn't taking time to drink water. The last few days, especially when exercising, I've been making a really conscious effort to drink more water. Yesterday, I filled up the 20 oz water bottle before leaving work, on the way to the gym (about 10 minutes on the train). I refilled it at the gym, and refilled again after the workout. That's 60 oz of water in just about a 90-minute period. So, it can be done.

If I carry water, I drink water. If I don't carry it, I don't even think about water. That will probably change as this habit gets developed. But I had a revelation last night: when it came time to take out my contacts, they just slid right out - the easiest time I've ever had with removing them!

So, drink your water. It makes a difference!
