Guest guest
--- Hi. I just joined and saw the message from Rosemary and wanted to respond. I also had the surgery. In fact, it was just a few weeks before yours'. I was 369 pounds. I lost down to 214 by my first anniversary. To make a long story shorter, by the 1st anniversary I had gained back 14 due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Hurricane Isabelle, and the next year proceeded to gain 85. I gained 15 more last year. I've gained all but about 30 back, but it looks like more than that, and I am wearing the same size 32 jeans I wore then. I have lost about 15 or so since November, but was told by a cardiologist that I have to get very serious about losing the weight. I am thoroughly sick with myself that I have allowed this to happen. I remembered today that I once lost 62 pounds with Deal a Meal and looked for my cards. I seem to have lost some, along with the information as to how many are allowed daily and thought I might find that online, and found not only that information but also this group. I have decided to try DaM again. It was the healthiest food plan I've ever been on and I felt great so I think this is my best bet. I can't eat certain things now without problems so I may have to alter it a bit, but I think this is what I need to do. I also need the added help of a support group so I'm grateful to have found this group. Thanks. Lynn

I guess you found my old site then: http://members.tripod.com/sue_in_nj/rich.htm On the Foodmover page http://members.tripod.com/sue_in_nj/fm.htm you can find the calorie card for your weight (Well, in your case the 2000 calorie card plus add the extra starch and protein) and print it out, laminate it with clear Contac paper, and use a dry marker or grease pencil to check off your portions as the day goes on and at the end of the day just wipe it clean. Of course, you could also buy a Foodmover from 's web site http://www.richardsimmons.com/ or used from eBay. We do have a load of recipes in our Files section on this list, but you may want to visit our sister list, RSDeal, for loads more, all with DAM/FM exchanges already figured. rsdeal Sue in NJ
Guest guest
Hi Lynn - I don't think I have "officially" responded to your joining message. Now I see why the Questions about the WLS surgery talk. I am glad Sue responded that the "rules" were changed, since I didn't have the official answer to respond. I know the 2000 calories sounds like a lot, but at our weight, we need more calories. I think by Spark and them I am supposed to be in the 1600 or 1700 to 2000 range myself. I am 5'8" and 285 lbs give or take, which is almost 10% down from my starting weight (310). I got there (10%) but fiddled around and gained a few over the holidays. Anyway, glad you found us and hope you do stay and find the support you need.
Guest guest
--- Hi Sue. Thanks for all the info and yes, it was your old page I found and it led me here. I didn't see the FoodMover page though, till seeing your link here. There's one thing I don't understand. I don't think there's a chance in the world that I would lose .........oh, gosh, I feel so stupid. LOL. I was going to say I couldn't lose weight on 2000 calories. I had always used the 1200 calorie cards. But hey, I was way under 230 then. I was 325 this morning. Oh, my, what a wake up call...seeing the 2000 calories for me! Okay, I've got some work to do, besides all the weight to lose, and exercise to do, just getting down some information to use. Ok, Lynn, just get started! Thanks, Sue. It's all me - my excuses - I haven't had more than 4 glasses of water on any given day, I'm lacking commitiment, we had a software change and people have been calling me and yelling at me for weeks now - yeah like I changed the program, when my daughter works with me - she likes to buy us lunch (thank goodness it's only twice a week and not usually too bad). We've eaten out entirely too much the past 2 weeks. and we celebrated the week and half leading up to superbowl at work. Today is a new day - and I did shopping and some planning - it's a start. Guest guest
Thanks so much, , for the warm welcome. And congrats on the start. That's more than I've done yet. I need to menu plan and make a grocery list. My husband seems to insist on getting them since I had a hysterectomy, but hey, that's been about 14 months ago. But hey, I guess I should be happy he does it. LOL. But I do need to make the list. It does seem hard to be able to eat out and stick to the plan. I do remember doing it before, I'll have to find my little booklet that tells what exchanges I can use. I seem to have a really hard time getting back to water. I've been drinking sweet tea which is my addiction, I guess. I keep saying I am going to drink the water, but when it comes down to it, if I take it to work with me, I just don't drink it. I use the large Pepsi bottles to refill with my tea, I think they're the 20 oz. size, or near that. I drink 3 of those at work every day, but if it's water, I do well if I drink one of them. I've got to find a way to get back to it. I drank Propel for a while, but that gets expensive. I do know that if I drink the water, I lose twice as fast as without it, and you'd think that would be motivation enough. LOL. Guest guest
Thank you so very much, . I was afraid I gave a really bad first impression that may be hard for some to get past.Congrats on your weight loss. I used to be 5'8 " but I have very slumped shoulders, hopefully not indicative of ending up like my mother. Her back looks like the letter C. But the last they told me, I'm 5'5 1/2 " . It's so refreshing to be able to say these numbers again, without being looked at as if I'm nuts. I have a website that I have neglected for a few years now, but it took me losing a good bit of weight before I would post my starting weight. I just could not bear to even say it out loud. I got to where I could say it without hesitation, but now I noticed the other day I could not say it again. I do feel like I've come home, sort of. It feels good. Thanks so much. Guest guest
That's great hubby shops - if he sticks to the list <GBG> I just hung up with my gf - she says the same thing my mom always did - hubby can go to the store to get 2 things - with a list and still mess it up LOL. I say hey if he's the one going..... Drive throughs are easy - I've got those pretty much memorized (hardest was going from taco supreme to regular taco, sit downs aren't to awful - 1/2 goes home etc but the hardest thing to recover from is the salt! My downfall is coke - I'm down from 6-8 a day to 3-4 which is still about 600 wasted calories a day. It's bad when you plan 500 calories meals so I can have them. I have a 'mini' cooler - that holds 4 cups for water at work, if I do well I can fill that thing 3-4 times a day. The weekend is really hard because my water sucks (the only thing I miss about the old place). Sometimes I take my 8 cup 'jug' to work on Friday to fill up for the weekend. Guest guest
LOL. That's funny. I buy gallons of water at the grocery store. I don't like our water here either. When work used the big water bottles from Diamond Springs I would use their's also, but now they use a water fountain and I hate that water. I was addicted to Pepsi, and for 4 years ago I quit, and for some stupid reason, about a year ago I started drinking it again. I thought, I've been able to stick to that for 4 years, and no sugar in my coffee and tea, but cheated on everything else. Now, how that meant that it was okay to go on and have them now I'll never figure out, but I did start having them again. Now that's just more I have to fight and give up again. Foolish, I know. I use WAY too much sugar in a gallon of tea, and I drink the whole gallon throughout the day. Giving up that alone will be a big help. Hey, down from 6-8 to 3-4 is halfway there. LOL. I remember once when I allowed my doctor, of all people, to put me on this 500 calore A DAY diet, where you get hormone shots almost daily, so I know 500 calories. My friend to this day swears when I finished the diet that I could only whisper saying " I'm so happy to have lost this weight " . She has been telling that story for 23 years. Oh, my gosh! Had no idea it had been that long. Yeah, we do crazy stuff, don't we? How many calories is it? How do you feel about artificial sweeteners? Ann
