Guest guest
's Daily Message SundayJanuary 28, 2007PERFECTION I have a longtime friend who has been struggling with her weight for decades. Like every professional dieter, she has lost and gained large amounts of weight. Right now, her weight is high and her body has really started to feel it. It is so hard for her to walk because her feet and knees are always in pain. Since the first week of January, she has been trying very hard to stay committed. The first week of the month, she stayed on my Blast Off program and lost 5 1/2 pounds. I could just see how happy she was when she told me. "This is a new beginning for me," she told me. "I'm gonna get this extra weight off so I can have my legs back!" The second week of January, my friend lost another two pounds. She was simply elated because now she was up to a 7 1/2 pound weight loss. But when she got on the scale this week, she had gained a little weight back and was in tears. She wrote: ". I ate perfectly. I measured everything I put in my mouth. I only had one Diet Coke in the past seven days. I didn`t have one cookie, one piece of chocolate or even one potato chip. I drank lots of water and was, I thought, being just perfect. But look at where all of my hard work got me!" I said to her that she did eat very healthy and I was so proud of her. But I also told her that, as hard as you work, there are no guarantees that you will lose weight, every single week and that she should stop being so hard on herself. I told her to please keep eating the best she could and that, most probably, she would see a weight-loss the next week. My friend wiped away her tears and promised she`d keep trying. Are some of you out there trying to be perfectionists? Are you still looking for a weight-loss every single week? If this sounds like you, do yourself a big favor and don`t drive yourself nuts with numbers. You`ve gotta be patient, stay on program and, I promise, the weight will come off. Please plan your meals today for next week. And be sure to plan your workouts, too! Love,
