We were talking about healthy things for a 10 year old to eat for lunches. This got me to thinking about a few other things in this subject I would like to discuss. A year or two ago, my daughter told me that she had her feelings hurt when a boy said her mom was fat. Also, I mentioned how almost 2 years ago, my ex inlaws came for a visit and they didn't greet my oldest with hugs and kisses and words of love, they said, "It looks like someone needs to do some situps" they also made comments to her about her eating at the dinner table. I took them aside and told them I would prefer if they had any suggestions or concerns to come to me where Kaylee couldn't hear them. To avoid emotional scars with her weight. My mil was very understanding, but among other things, my fil wasn't as nice. he was a pastor and what he said regarding the weight is "There is this obscenely obese single

woman and she has a 12 year old daughter that is following her footsteps and this is what we are afraid of with Kaylee." Ouch. I know I need to teach by example. Kaylee is no where near fat, but she is no longer super thin like she was until she had her tonsils and adenoids taken out at the age of 4. As a mom, for many reasons, I want to teach my kids how to eat healthy. Have any of you ever experienced this? (Kids sad because of comments about us or other mean things said to you or your children regarding weight?) Shirley in CO __________________________________________________
