Guest guest
Here in NH we got a lot of ice. PLUS a little flurry after. This whole week they are calling for ice conditions. I told hubby I much would rather have snow. Thankfully he took today off weeks ago. NH. 246.
Guest guest
Here in Colorado its been very cold. This winter has been the worst one we have had in ages. I live in the foothills near the base of the Rocky Mountains. Pikes Peak is the backdrop, I have grown up with and love.We have had several stow storms and blizzards that have shut down the highways and interstates statewide. It was only negative 1 last night, but that doesn't include wind chill factor. Please stay safe if you have to drive at all during the Ice Storm. The thing I hate most about driving in the winter is black ice. *hugs* ShirleyJase04567@... wrote: Here in NH we got a lot of ice. PLUS a little flurry after. Guest guest
I'm in one of the suburbs of Detroit and we finally got the ice storm here last night. Most of the bad weather keeps missing us, but now there are people without power here tonight. There are thousands of people without it. I must say, I live in an apartment that actually has a gas stove so I can cook. And it doesn't take much to heat my apartment. I haven't had the need to turn on my heat yet. They installed new windows and the apartment upstairs has their heat on so high that my apartment stays at about 70/76 degrees....most times I must crack my window open. Temperatures are in the 30's....and lows will be in the 20's tonight. Everyone be safe. Carolina > Here in NH we got a lot of ice. PLUS a little flurry after. Guest guest
, Do you work out Mon-Fri and then take the weekends off? Can you do it on the weekend, or no? Just wondering if it would be better to do a few days and have a break and then a few days for another break instead of 5 in a row and 2 nothing...? Yes, I do my workouts M-F and take the weekends off. Actually I try to do my band work on the weekends. And I need to get those out again. I did exercise tonight. I did my 20 minute Quick workout, which means its double time but only in 20 minutes....(HUFF N PUFF...LOL), yes it was tough but it was good when I finished. Sometimes my asthma affects that too. So I have to be sure to use my inhaler before I workout. How are you doing? > We are under an Ice Storm Warning starting at 10 pm tonight to 10 am > tomorrow. It should be an interesting ride to work.> > Where are you at? We had an ice storm 10 yrs ago - that was pretty wild. > Will be keeping you folks in my thoughts and prayers for safety. When we had > ours, folks lost power for days and days (weeks) while they repaired things. I'm located in a suburb of Detroit, MI. The nasty weather keeps missing us, but we finally got some of it. And tonight it is supposed to snow so the morning ride to work will be interesting. Be safe wherever you are. Carolina
Guest guest
I'm in Royal Oak, and thank goodness we didn't lose power! We did flicker three or four times in the middle of the night, but thank goodness we still had it this morning. Not a fun drive into work this morning, but it could have been worse! The one benefit of this is I don't have to take a cooler for work..I just leave my lunch in the car! > > I'm in one of the suburbs of Detroit and we finally got the ice storm > here last night. Guest guest
Glad you didn't lose power. You know what is funny? This is the first time I have not lived with another adult in my life. I have my three babies, but they are 3,6 and 7. SO we were freezing after their dad's last visit here last week. You know what it was? THE FURNACE WAS OFF!!! *blush* It hasn't been near as cold since I found that out. Have a great day and those of you in the ice and snow storms or cold spells, STAY WARM! blessings, Shirley in COgonnagetinthe100s <gonnagetinthe100s@...> wrote: I'm in Royal Oak, and thank goodness we didn't lose power! Guest guest
> Here in NH we got a lot of ice. I saw that on TV - pretty awful stuff. In fact, while watching the Weather Channel for a while last night, as each state's crazy weather was mentioned and shown I would rattle off to Ed who from my lists lives in that area, driving him nuts! >This whole week they are calling for ice conditions. So far we're dry, but all that's going to change tomorrow night. From Thursday on for a few days we'll have freezing rain, sleet, even some snow mixed in by early next week. Poor Henry - he started his new semester yesterday and for the next 5 months he has 3 night classes, and we already told him that rainy or snowy nights he's taking the trains home, that neither of us are driving to that city in that slop. >I told hubby I much would rather have snow. Snow instead of ice - definitely. Dry and freezing weather instead of either, oh yeah! I'll take minus 20º and wind rather than even one inch of snow! I can't believe how bad you guys got hit this year, one storm right after another! > It was only negative 1 last night, but that doesn't include wind chill factor. So that snow isn't going to be melting any time soon, either. If it were me, I'd be checking out real estate in Florida about now. >The thing I hate most about driving in the winter is black ice. Walking is pretty bad, too. Ed encountered a few patches of that stuff yesterday evening heading home from work, places where fire hydrants leaked or windows were washed on store-fronts. That's all he needs with his bum knee right now is to fall and hurt it even more! Sue in NJ
Guest guest
>I'm in one of the suburbs of Detroit and we finally got the ice storm here last night. Most of the bad weather keeps missing us, I'm really dreading Thursday night, as that's when it's supposed to hit my neck of the woods. >I must say, I live in an apartment that actually has a gas stove so I can cook. Same here. Plus a hard-wired phone, too. So many people get rid of their phones when they get cell service, or they only have portable phones in their homes, forgetting that when the power goes out they're sometimes useless. Almost *every* power outage we've had over the years, our " land line " has worked without interruption. >And it doesn't take much to heat my apartment. I haven't had the need to turn on my heat yet. I've mentioned before how *cold* our place is this year, and usually it's like yours - so warm the windows are open even in zero degree weather. I do feel sorry for the landlord - first the cost of oil skyrocketed so one month's supply for this 4-family house cost around $2000 at the beginning of the heating season, and now that he has no choice but to turn the heat up, the cranky old furnace is acting up again. Sunday and Monday our back hallway smelled of oily smoke, as the furnace " did its thing " and belched oil over parts of the basement and shut down. Besides hearing the landlord curse out the furnace all day Monday we also watched through the window as he removed piles of old furnature and toys that he had stores in the area around the furnace, all now ruined and on the curb for pick-up today. He said a few years ago that he was going to replace the oil furnace with a new gas one, but life interfered with his plans every year and he never did. I truly hope that after this fiasco he gets it done this summer. Sue in NJ

It has electric igniters so in the main part of the oven there isn't a pilot to light. I can light the burners on the top if the electricity goes out, but not the bottom. I too have a phone with a chord and a phone that is wireless... for the same reason so that when the electricity goes out, we still have a phone. We have a cell phone, but where I live it barely gets much signal, so when I am at home it is pretty useless. Shirley in CO Expecting? Get great news right away with email Auto-Check.Try the Beta. Central - right on the water across the river from downtown Manhattan. > Over all this winter have you had more rain than snow or just dry all together? Just dry.
