Guest guest
First let me say that I am so happy that you are healthy from all that you have been through. Wow, you went through alot. As I was reading your post I couldn't help but think " Wow, this is an amazing woman who I think could probably conquer anything. " You have had alot of setbacks but really worked your way out of them. That is wonderful. With you determination I think you're weight loss will be another hurdle you will get past. I am new here also. I am also am about the same weight as you and want to get down to anything below 200. Obviously, after losing 16 lbs you are on your way. That's great. I have a little girl and we all know our children need us. Hopefully we can all do it together. Tara

To be a perfect weight I should lose 150 pounds but I will be happy if I can lose 100 pounds. That is my goal to lose it by Fall of 2007. Yeah, the charts say I should lose about 124 lbs still, but I will be happy when I hit 190 and go from there, honestly. I will try to keep this short. WHY?? LOL! (Couldn't resist, I saw the ending before responding) ...... Needless to say between all the medication including heavy doses of steriods, the weight is back and then some. A few months ago I hit 306. Wow, good for you - you have been through a lot and still standing for yourself and change. My top weight when I started this in June 2005 was 310 so you can do it!! I have given up Mountain Dew, fast food, and bear clow pastries. I have lost about 16 pounds so far. I know I need to get out and exercise more, I am a champion at finding excuses for not doing it. I know I am very lucky right now because despite the weight I am fairly healthy, recent bloodwork came back perfect, even my A1C was great. I do have High Blood pressure but not too bad, but doc says that my organs can only hang in there so long. Of course my back is killing me ! Good for the changes you have made. That is excellent. We went to Arby's tonight, our New Year's treat to ourselves (ds and me) and now that we're embarking on a new year, more changes are a coming! Looking forward to getting to know you and follow your progress.

I wanted to wish you good luck on your weight loss efforts, and to ask you to promise yourself that you WILL NOT get discouraged if it does not look like you are going to hit the 100 mark by this coming fall. I say that for two reasons...First, you want to lose weight in a healthy way that gets rid of fat, but preserves your muscle. Usually a rate of loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week is ideal for healthy loss that you can maintain for life. You are talking about losing 100 pounds in about 40 weeks, which would be a rate of 2.5 pounds per week. That's not too much higher, but it is significant. I am glad you touched on this - I forgot and didn't see anyone else mention it before also. Goals are good, but make sure they are both realistic and reasonable. I'd rather see 1 lb a week go away than set myself up for failure (just me). who *is* stepping it up a notch this new year's :-)

I wanted to wish you good luck on your weight loss efforts, and to ask you to promise yourself that you WILL NOT get discouraged if it does not look like you are going to hit the 100 mark by this coming fall. You are talking about losing 100 pounds in about 40 weeks, which would be a rate of 2.5 pounds per week. That's not too much higher, but it is significant. Second, it is hard to maintain the same rate of loss the closer you get to your goal weight. (Believe me, I know this one from experience.) As you get closer to your goal, if you are working out and eating right, you will be building muscle, which is more dense than fat and thus weighs more than the same volume of fat. This is a GOOD thing, but one that you will need to remember so that you don't get discouraged and quit when the pounds start coming off more slowly. SOOOOO, go for the big loss! But do it healthy and stay positive as you go. 100 pounds is more than most people could lose in 9 months in a healthy way, and the last thing you want to do is drop it fast, waste away your muscles, risk damaging your heart in the same way an anorexic might, and then yo-yo right back up. See you around! > > Well here I am. To be a perfect weight I should lose 150 pounds but I > will be happy if I can lose 100 pounds. That is my goal to lose it by > Fall of 2007.
