Guest guest
's Daily Message SaturdayDecember 23, 2006SONGS THAT MAKE YOU JINGLE For the next few days, I`ll be cooking, cleaning, wrapping packages and singing...yes, singing! I have all of my Christmas CDs out and I plan to sing to all of them. I just love holiday music! Every year, a few of my students at Slimmons, compile a collection of songs they know I will love and make a CD of them for me to enjoy. Well, let me share some of my favorite tunes with you. Nora sings a song called "Peace." It has a very haunting melody that sort of just takes you away from it all. When you hear it, you can picture yourself in a carriage riding through a field of snow. Now I know you`ve heard Nat King Cole sing a lot of Christmas songs but have you heard him sing "The Happiest Christmas Tree"? In that song, Mr. Cole is the voice of a little Christmas tree that gets chosen by a wonderful family and goes home with them. It's so cute! Most of you know the song, "White Christmas" but let me tell you, no one sings it like the great Mahalia . She was my father`s favorite singer. Or did you ever get Eder`s CD called "Christmas Stays The Same"? It is superb. And she sings a version of "Silent Night" so sweetly, it sounds like bells are ringing in her voice. Peggy Lee is just about one of my favorite singers of all times. I don't know if you are familiar with a song she does called "The Christmas Waltz." It is simply dreamy. And for the sassier side of you, there are three hot songs that will get your hips and your lips moving. B.B. King singing "Merry Christmas, Baby" is one of them. The other is h Carey belting out "All I Want For Christmas Is You". And I just have to include Lee Ann Rime`s version of "Rock Around The Christmas Tree." Then there is Il Divo`s Christmas collection. My pick of that CD is "Oh Holy Night." You`ve heard this next one on the radio a lot and I hope you went out and bought Bette Midler`s new CD called "Cool Yule." She just makes every song her own. I`m sure you all know Bette`s beautiful classic, "From A Distance." Well, she recorded a holiday version of that song and it truly is amazing! Today, my brother and his wife, , arrive in town. When they walk through the front door of my house, you can bet Christmas music will be playing. And I`m sure we`ll all sing together. Do you love holiday music as much as I do? Guest guest
My husband and I LOVE South Park - which really surprised me because I am so picky about the music I listen to and the books I read. But somehow, it grew on me. I think the thing I like about it is that they make fun of EVERYONE - not just one segment of society or just one religion. It kindda makes you laugh at yourself and not take yourself so seriously. I didn't realize they had a Christmas album - though I do like the clip where Cartman is singing " O Holy Night " and gets cattle-prodded when he doesn't remember the words. BJ ( I was named after my dad, . Billi Jo is a truly southern name, which fits because I am in Georgia. But I was born and raised in PA and was a little difficult to grow up with a name like that. If I complained about it, my mom would say that I was lucky I wasn't named Wilhemena (which is a lovely name if anyone out there is named that)
