Guest guest Posted October 29, 2006 Report Share Posted October 29, 2006 's Daily Message Sunday October 29, 2006 MOVIE MARATHON One Saturday morning at the breakfast table, my mother announced there were 3 movies playing on Canal Street that she wanted to see. " Does anybody want to see these movies with me? " I was the only one that spoke, " I want to see them, too. Let`s see all 3 of them today! " My brother looked at us strangely, and my father just laughed. Shirley and I finished our breakfast and rushed to get ready. We began with the Lana movie, then the Hayward movie, and our third movie was one that starred Bette . I had such a good time seeing movies with my mom. We used to sit and cry along with those divas! So in Shirley`s honor, I decided to see 3 movies yesterday! After class, I got cleaned up and headed to the Arclight Theater on Sunset Boulevard. The first movie I saw was " The Prestige, " with Hugh Jackman, " X-Men, " and Christian Bale, " Batman, " Scarlett Johansson, Caine, and a very distinguished Bowie. I don`t know how to tell you about this flick! All I really have to advise you is to pay attention. This story has many twists and turns, and you`ll love every one of them. I`d give it 4 tank tops! Next, " Marie Antoinette " ! Get ready to look at cake differently after enjoying this film! It was written and directed by Sofia Coppola, the daughter of Francis Ford Coppola. To me, she is one of the most amazing and creative ladies out there! This film is grand in every way, and Kirsten Dunst is one of the best young actresses around! Instead of using classical music to score this movie, Sofia decided to use contemporary music, including rock and roll. Well, " M.A. " rocked my boat! I gave it 4 tank tops! I ended my marathon by watching an actress who is one of my all time favorites, Helen Mirren. She just gets lost in this role and totally becomes the woman she is playing. The movie is called " The Queen, " and Lady Mirren plays Queen . The story focuses on the time of the death of Princess and how Queen handled herself and her country. I give it 4 tank tops! She will definitely be nominated for an Academy Award come April! Shirley would have loved seeing all these films, and I know you will, too!
