Oh, what a fun, but hectic week I`m having so far! Two hours car ride here, an hour of traffic there, meetings, interviews, phone calls, singing and dancing in airports, hotel lobbies… well, everywhere! No matter how hectic it is, I always find time in my schedule to have a little down time. It`s not a nap. You really don`t fall asleep. It`s just a few minutes to be still and quiet.

Yesterday, I had 20 minutes that belonged to only me. When I got to my hotel room, I put the "do not disturb" sign on my door and another on my phone. I drew the drapes in the bedroom and made sure the room was cool. I drank a glass of water and lay down on the bed. As I`ve told you before, I carry my own pillows everywhere. They were my mother`s pillows, and I`ve slept on them since I was 2 years old.

I lay on my side with my pillows under my head. When I got to the hotel room, my body was very sore. My feet were burning because I had been on them for 8 hours. My knees hurt, and I had a slight headache, so I just closed my eyes and inhaled and exhaled through my nose. I began freeing my mind from all my thoughts as I breathed. I relaxed every part of my body as I lay there so still. Sometimes I visualize being somewhere. Yesterday, I was lying on a mound of fresh cut grass. There were oak trees all around to shade me from the sun, and every once in a while, I could feel the breeze on my face.

After about 15 minutes of lying on that mound, I got up and stretched out. My headache was gone, and so was the burning sensation at the bottom of my feet. Instead of being sore, my body felt reenergized and rested! I showered, dressed, and went on my merry way to another TV appearance looking marvelous!

Do you have 15 minutes or so to give yourself a little downtime? Where would you like to drift off to? Hawaii maybe? There you are, lying on the beach as dusk falls. You are shaded by tall palm trees, and you can feel the breeze on your face. Aloha!

Love,
