Guest guest
's Daily Message Tuesday December 05, 2006 MEALS, PART IV Oh, you didn`t know there was a fourth meal? Well, it`s not really a meal, but we make it a meal. We`re talking fat today. FAT, FAT, FAT! We just love to eat FAT! Do these meals sound familiar? Bear claw with coffee, cream, and sugar; 2 fried eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 link sausages, and a stack of pancakes with butter and maple syrup; a croissant stuffed with ham and gouda cheese and an eggnog frappuccino; beef tacos with Mexican rice, refried beans, and paquitos; a double cheeseburger with a large order of fries and a chocolate malt; fettucine alfredo with a side of pepperoni pizza; fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, and creamed corn. I`m going to go out on a limb and say you have tasted all these fattening meals I have just mentioned, and there are plenty more meals that are consumed by the American public that are 50-90 percent all fat! Why do we love the taste of fat so much? Because we`ve been raised to eat fat. From morning sweet treats to decadent desserts, we have been taught to adore fried foods and homey comfortable dishes that are laden with butter, cream, and oil. As we go through our lives, we carry with us the foods we loved in the past, and boy, can that get you in trouble! If you really want to get a handle on your handles, you will have to stop eating all this saturated fat and begin to wisely use the few portions of fat you get every day! It`s best to distribute your fat throughout the day. Have one teaspoon of margarine on your toast or on your oatmeal, one teaspoon of oil in your salad or in your stir-fry, one tablespoon of roasted pine nuts on a medley of fresh steamed vegetables, or one of my favorite fats, avocadoes. You only get 1/8 of a medium avocado for a fat window, so mash it up, spread it out, and eat slowly! Have you made time to go through the food exchanges in detail? Today if you have an extra 5 minutes to educate yourself, go over the fat section. Remember, each fat window will grant you 5 grams of fat. Start to read labels and start to see how much fat is in the food you eat. It will shock you… maybe into cutting way down on your fats, which will eventually lead your weight to go down!
