Guest guest
's Daily Message Tuesday November 28, 2006 ON DEAF EARS Wayne D. from Georgia wrote me a few days ago about his sister-in-law. " I`ve been married for 11 years now to a super lady named Carol. Carol has a younger sister named Becky, and since I`ve known Becky, she`s gained a great deal of weight, maybe 100-125 pounds. Becky just went on disability because she has chronic back and knee pain that forced her to quit her job. I`ve had many talks with Becky, and she always looks at me real serious and says, `You are right, Wayne, and I`m gonna start tomorrow.` And for Becky, tomorrow never comes. No matter what I say to her, it falls on deaf ears. My wife and I are so worried, and we don`t know what else to do. Would you get in touch with her? Maybe she`ll listen to you. " Well, I called Becky yesterday, and she told me she has watched me since my " General Hospital " days. Becky said she had some of my tapes and that she loved them, but she couldn`t do them anymore. I spent about 20 minutes telling her why she needed to lose the weight, stop the pain, and go back to work. I explained the food groups and portions and water. You know, all the things I`ve tried to teach you. She was very quiet on the phone, and when I finished, she told me the same thing she told her brother-in-law. " I`m gonna start tomorrow! " I could tell my message fell on deaf ears, too. What I`ve learned all these years is that if you`re not ready to lose weight, it doesn`t matter who says what to you. I learned that many people don`t take their health and weight risks seriously. I also learned that many people are also afraid of failing again and would rather not really even try again. Are you like Becky, always promising to start tomorrow? You see, my friends, we don`t really know how many tomorrows we`re gonna get. If you have weight to lose, start right now! Put a plan together to lose it! Resurrect your goals, and forgive yourself for all the times you`ve tried before, and just give it another go! Oh, and clean your ears so you can hear me better!
