's Daily Message SaturdayNovember 04, 2006THE PHONE CALL

I was pacing the floor in my kitchen, staring at the phone. Back and forth I went, looking at the box with all the buttons on it. The dogs walked back and forth with me with that "what are you doing, strange human" look on their faces. At another phone in the house, Anne C. was waiting for the phone to ring, too. I was so nervous, I even picked up the receiver twice to make sure there was a dial tone, and then it happened! Ring, ring… I jumped to attention like a soldier and said, "Hello."

"Hi, . This is Bill Frist, and I`m very glad to talk with you. I applaud you for all the work you have done!"

At that instant, Anne got on the phone, and I introduced her to Senator Frist. Anne, Dana, and I have put together the entire RS Ask America Crusade. Dana was on the call in spirit. Senator Frist continued to talk. "I`m a doctor, so I know how important it is to have your health, and most Americans don`t have it!"

Anne and I explained our vision on how to get fitness back into the schools. He listened to what we had to say very carefully and said, "I think the questionnaire is a terrific idea, and you will hear what America has to say! I also like your plans on reestablishing physical fitness back in schools where it belongs. , Anne, I want to help you make this happen! A lot of people may say they want to help, but I am telling you, I`m going to put this together! I am sitting on a plane right now, and after the elections are over mid November, I will assemble my staff, and we will talk again."

We said our goodbyes and thanked him for his time. I have to tell you, he was a gracious man! I could hear in his voice that he was serious about helping us! I put the receiver down, feeling like it was a dream. Anne had that look in her eyes, too.

I will keep going on radio and television shows, talking about the questionnaire and our plans to make the children of this country healthy! Many of you have filled out our questionnaire and have also printed them out to distribute at the school your kids go to. Thank you all for your support on this and so many of my other projects. Thank you for believing in me!
