Rich,

I'm glad you have made this connection, as sleep-wake cycle disturbances are so

big for some of us.

Two things I am curious about:

-- Would this result in any visible abnormalities in the pineal gland? I don't

know why it would, but a small cyst was seen on my pineal gland on MRI years

ago.

-- Could this finding relate in some way to the worsening of sleep some of us

have had when attempting the methylation cycle protocol? I have not yet been

able to stay on it as my sleep just gets too wretched and losing several weeks

of sleep is more than my body can handle. I know you mentioned excitotoxicity

with this, but could it also have to do with serotonin? Serotonin increasing

substances give me headaches and insomnia too, and I am curious if there might

be a temporary increase in serotonin for some reason (again, I don't know why

this would happen).

-- I also want to add that methylcobalamin shots (alone) with nightly melatonin

is the only thing that has ever really helped my sleep-wake cycle. There is one

autism doctor who uses methylcobalamin shots as an autism/methylation treatment,

but I forget his name. Do you have any ideas why this treatment might have

worked better for me than the other methylation supps in this one area? It

seems it may have directly addressed this particular problem. Now I am taking

oral methylcobalamin but not melatonin, and my sleep-wake cycle is still

disturbed but remains better than it was (I used to be only able to fall asleep

as the sun was coming up, no matter what time I went to bed, and would often

sleep until the sun went down: in other words, I was living a total vampire

schedule and rarely saw sunlight).

Peggy, I have a large cyst on my pineal gland also. I still don't know what

effect this has if any on my cfs/fibro, Drs of course are clueless about all

of it.

Nothing much helped me with cfs. This year I've lost quite a bit of weight

with the homeopathic version of the hcg diet and that’s helped me more than

anything.
