Guest guest
Hi Sue Dhea sulfate is blood test. Yes, cortisol is best measured by saliva test but you will probably need to find a naturopath to interpret the results.AFAIK many endocrinologists do not accept saliva test. Saliva test will check your cortisol levels at four different times of a day.24 hour urinary free cortisol test is accepted by endos but It measures your total urinary free cortisol for 24 hour time period.Variations in cortisol levels will not be observable there. For example if you have high cortisol in the morning and noon and low in the afternoon and evening your total urinary free cortisol test may come up normal.24 hour urinary free cortisol test will be meaningful for CFS patient if person is low in cortisol whole day. best wishes nil Re: Cortisol and DHEA Testing--NIL Nil, You wrote " DHEA So4 test gives good picture of DHEA status. " Is this a blood test or a saliva test? I have lot of cognitive trouble. Does the information mean that Cortisol is best measured through saliva then? Thanks again! Guest guest
Hi Sue If you decide to take the saliva test I may be able to tell you if you have adrenal exhaustion or not.But I can not tell you which supplements to take and how much. For that you need to find a naturopath or an endocrinologist who accepts saliva tests. For saliva testing check site of Diagnos techs. http://www.diagnostechs.com/Home.aspx you may also wish to join group 's disease s_Disease/ There may be some US citizen PWC's there who were diagnosed by an endocrinologist. They might be able to give you some helpful info. Saliva test gives directly free cortisol which is preferable but than there is problem of finding and MD who will interpret and use it. You may need to see naturopath for that. > > 24 hour urinary free cortisol test may also give better picture than serum cortisol test. > > DHEA So4 test gives good picture of DHEA status. > Best wishes > nil ------------------------------------ This list is intended for patients to share personal experiences with each other, not to give medical advice.
