Guest guest
Hi Gordon, How did your trial of cholestyramine go? I have a friend in California who is on the RVK methylation protocol. She says she has seen significant improvement. Tim Hi All ....I tend to come here to share experiences and ideas for those looking for a treatment in to their cause of CFS/ME symptoms. Has anyone tried the Rich Van Konynenburge treatment plan out for methylation cycle block? http://aboutmecfs.org.violet.arvixe.com/Trt/TrtGSHMethISimple.aspx http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/CFS_-_The_Methylation_Cycle It would be useful to share experiences from those who have tried this or hear from those keeping a log when trying this protocol. Guest guest
Hi I didn't do very well on Questran (cholestyramine) I tried one sachet a day for a month and it just seemed to clog up my system (not bowel wise as I took plenty of vit C) but I just felt very toxic and nauseas. Iv been off it for 2weeks and trying to build up my stamina levels again. I will try very low doses of the methylation protocol i.e. ActiFolate and Intrinsic B12/Folate which appear to be the key supplements then add the rest as I go along given that I don't suffer too much from the first two supplements. Guest guest
Hi, Gordon. The simplified methylation protocol has been revised. The formulation of Intrinsi B12/folate was changed by Metametrix, and it no longer contains folinic acid. Other changes were made to minimize folic acid in the protocol, to make it more convenient by using drops instead of splitting capsules, and adding lecithin as an option for those with low cortisol. The most recent version is pasted below. Best regards, Rich March 30. 2011 SIMPLIFIED TREATMENT APPROACH FOR LIFTING THE METHYLATION CYCLE BLOCK IN CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME—March 30, 2011 Revision Rich Van Konynenburg. Ph.D. (Based on the full treatment program developed by Amy Yasko, Ph.D., N.D. which is used primarily in treating autism [1]) SUPPLEMENTS 1. General Vitamin Neurological Health Formula [2]: Start with one-quarter tablet and increase dosage as tolerated to 2 tablets daily 2. Hydroxy B12 Mega Drops [3]: 2 drops under the tongue daily 3. MethylMate B [4]: 3 drops under the tongue daily 4. Folinic acid [5]: ¼ capsule daily 5. Phosphatidyl Serine Complex [6]: 1 softgel capsule daily (or lecithin, see below) All these supplements can be obtained from http://www.holisticheal.com. The fourth supplement comes in capsules that contain 800 mcg. It will be necessary to open the capsules, dump the powder onto a flat surface, and separate it into quarters using a knife to obtain the daily dose. The powder can be taken orally with water, with or without food. These supplements can make some patients sleepy, so in those cases they take them at bedtime. In general, they can be taken at any time of day, with or without food. Phosphatidyl serine can lower cortisol levels. Patients who already have low evening cortisol levels may wish to substitute lecithin [7] (at one softgel daily) for supplement number 5 above. Lecithin is also available from http://www.holisticheal.com. For those allergic to soy, lecithin from other sources is available. GO SLOWLY. As the methylation cycle block is lifted, toxins are mobilized and processed by the body, and this can lead to an exacerbation of symptoms. IF THIS HAPPENS, try smaller doses, every other day. SLOWLY work up to the full dosages. Although this treatment approach consists only of nonprescription nutritional supplements, a few patients have reported adverse effects while on it. Therefore, it is necessary that patients be supervised by physicians while receiving this treatment. [2] General Vitamin Neurological Health Formula is formulated and supplied by Holistic Health Consultants LLC. [3] Hydroxy B12 Mega Drops is a liquid form of hydroxocobalamin (B12), supplied by Holistic Health Consultants. 2 drops is a dosage of 2,000 mcg. [4] MethylMate B is a liquid form of (6s)-methyltetrahydrofolate supplied by Holistic Health Consultants, based on Extrafolate S, a trademark of Gnosis S.P.A. 3 drops is a dosage of 210 mcg. [5] Folinic acid is 5-formyltetrahydrofolate. ¼ capsule is a dosage of 200 mcg. [5] Phosphatidyl Serine Complex is a product of Vitamin Discount Center. 1 softgel is a dosage of 500 mg. [7] Lecithin is a combination of phospholipids without phosphatidylserine. One softgel is a dosage of 1,200 mg. > > Hi I didn't do very well on Questran (cholestyramine) I tried one sachet a day for a month and it just seemed to clog up my system (not bowel wise as I took plenty of vit C) but I just felt very toxic and nauseas. Guest guest
I'm also in the UK and just trying this protocol. You can get all Holisticheal supplements here in the UK from http://www.vitaminsuk.com/. They do not have them on their website but they can supply if you ring them. Also if you say that you are a member of Action for ME (no proof required) then you get 10% discount. > > > > Hi I didn't do very well on Questran (cholestyramine) I tried one sachet a day for a month and it just seemed to clog up my system (not bowel wise as I took plenty of vit C) but I just felt very toxic and nauseas. Guest guest
thanks for that info...if I order these again I will check the site out... I am taking what i believe to be the most potent supplements first of the 5. I have found that the Folapro is pretty potent even taking a 1/4 of the tablet was giving me some mild headaches and has interfered with my sleeping patterns also strong smell from body wastes... I am now taking about 1/8th of the Folapro tablet I'm probably ok with the Intrinsi b12/folate and sublingual b12 I just got the Phosphatidyl Serine this morning and waiting for the multi mineral/vitamin from Holisticheal to come through. I am taking these in stages as I find it useful to know which is effecting me and in what ways. Let me know how you get on Regards Gordon methylation treatment > > > > > > > > Hi Gordon, > > > > How did your trial of cholestyramine go? > > > > I have a friend in California who is on the RVK methylation protocol. Guest guest
Hi All I think I am benefiting from the methylation treatment after starting it last September and building up the number of supplements slowly particularly the Phosphatidyl Serine Complex which I had to take a 1/4 of a tablet alternate days. I can now take a full tablet. I am about to order the Phosphatidyl Serine Complex again and have noted big differences in cost between the 500mg gel type that contain 100mg of Phosphatidyl Serine and essential fatty acids. http://www.vitamindiscountcenter.net/servlet/the-3243/787500053438/Detail The tablet version also contains 100mg of Phosphatidyl Serine but at a third of the cost. Phosphatidyl Serine 100mg (20%), Ginkgo Biloba Extract 8mg (50:1) equivalent to 400mg, Korean Ginseng 8mg (25:1) equivalent to 200mg, Dicalcium Phosphate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate. Is there any advantage to buying the gel complex version over the tablet version of Phosphatidyl Serine??? Your replies would be very welcome.
