Guest guest
Hi group, I am wondering if anyone is using any type of sound frequency to affect change of any kind - better sleep, reduced fight or flight response, better cognition/creativity.... I have been looking into Binaural Beat Sound Therapy.... http://subliminalselfhypnosis.com/pblog/the-history-of-binaural-beat-sound-thera\ py/ " Perceived human hearing is limited to a range of frequencies from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, although Infrasound (sound below 20Hz) although not readily audible, especially at low volumes, still has scientifically observable effects on humans. Human brain waves generally fall below a frequency 40 Hz. When the binaural beat frequency corresponds to the delta, theta, alpha, beta, or gamma brainwave frequencies, the brain entrains to the beat frequency. For example, if a 400 Hz sound wave is played into the right ear, and a 410 sound wave Hz into the left ear, the brain will entrain to a binaural beat frequency 10 Hz, which is in the alpha range. Since alpha is associated with relaxation and meditation, this will have a relaxing effect on the brain. " I am interested in Delta (0.5 - 3 Hz = Deep Sleep) and Theta (4-7 Hz = Deep Meditation) for my son who has sleep apnea. I am hoping that if he spends an hour in a darkened room listening to these levels of sound, he would get refreshed rest or perhaps listening to the sounds for an hour before sleep will help him sink into these levels to the point that he would leave his sleep apnea mask alone (he removes it inadvertently while sleeping so he rarely gets the level of REM sleep that he needs). He is pre-CFIDS. I am interested in Beta (15-40 Hz = Wakefulness) and Alpha ( 8-13 Hz = Visualization and creativity) for better cognitive function, more alertness during the day. Some of this is linked to some new age stuff which I am not interested in - but I do believe that the body can respond to stimulii physiologically and that is what I am trying to achieve. Any thoughts? Any product recommendations can be sent to me back-channel. I am sure there are so many products out there - I am not sure that I have the energy for the research required to select a good product that is reasonably priced. Many thanks, Marti

Guest guest
We use one of the sound machines that you can change from different settings (ocean, water, heartbeat, etc.) and have used it for years (plugs in or uses batteries for travel). We have the one that also has bird sounds and I play that in my office while working on my jewelry designs. We have used it for years and it really helps. My husband has sleep apnea and is unable to sleep without his mask so he wears it. He is non CFS/FMS. We take it every time we travel and it helps mask sounds from hotel room stuff that we aren't used to. Of course I also sleep with a Magellan eye mask and have used silicone Mack's ear plugs since 1985. in La Selva Beach CA On 9/19/2011 1:13 PM, marti_zavala wrote: > > Hi group, > > I am wondering if anyone is using any type of sound frequency to > affect change of any kind - better sleep, reduced fight or flight > response, better cognition/creativity.... > > I have been looking into Binaural Beat Sound Therapy.... > > http://subliminalselfhypnosis.com/pblog/the-history-of-binaural-beat-sound-thera\ py/ > > " Perceived human hearing is limited to a range of frequencies from 20 > Hz to 20,000 Hz, although Infrasound (sound below 20Hz) although not > readily audible, especially at low volumes, still has scientifically > observable effects on humans. Guest guest
i do believe in this type of help. we hear even when we dont hear...i dont know the cost of what you are looking at but to me anything is worth a chance...i have used sound therapy for years (35) and it helps me relax. to stop fight or flight i think it would have to be louder and more direct to that such as " clam   quiet  look into your heart - check your breathing slow slow slow "   there is a guy (halpern) who has done this for a long time but there are many new ones also....
