Herpes and Famvir

I have had herpes for over 25 years. I was told to take 2 Famvir daily for it.

I chose not to and to only take it when I feel an outbreak coming on. I still

have about 6 outbreaks a year. The outbreak itself doesn't bother me so much.

If I get any sores, it's usually only one. It's the other symptoms that bother

me. I get a fever, a headache, groin pain (from my abdominal lymph nodes), my

liver and/or spleen will swell and I just feel very flu-like. Is it worth it to

take the Famvir daily? I have to take so many meds. already, that I am hesitant

to do that.

You can always go the natural route. Stop eating high arginine foods.

Take lysine daily ... at least 500 mg. three times per day. Recommended

by a doctor.

CELLULOSE, MICROCRYSTALLINE

You didn't mention what type of herpes you have. This comes from the

tear sheet:

Suppression of Recurrent Genital Herpes

The recommended dosage is 250 mg twice daily for up to 1 year. The

safety and efficacy of Famciclovir tablet therapy beyond 1 year of

treatment have not been established.
