I was tested for absolute basophil count and it was high. I also flush with

25(about 4 years ago)-50 mg(last year) of niacin.

I might be undemethylated. I have skin tags and moles. Is it symptom of

undermethylation?

thanks

Nil, I don't know the answer to your question. My impression is that

men are more likely to have skin tags than women. I don't know if men

with skin tags are more likely to have methylation abnormalities than

men without skin tags.

Perhaps someone else can shed light on this.

Thanks for the reply. A lot of folk I have met and spoke with over the years

with under methylation issues have always stated they too have many moles of

there chest, arms and face, so I think there must be a link. I have read

liver/detox issues can lead to excess moles/skin tags, as can blood sugar

problems.

From all the reading I've done, I strongly suspect that I am an

undermethylator. Primary complaint is FM with awful, chronic fatigue but

not the " syndrome " (at least, I don't think so).

I've got tags, bumps, moles and constantly forming tiny cysts. Plus I've

been 'blessed' with unsightly keratoses, but that's most likely from

careless youth, baking in the sun.

I would love to see more light shed on this possible connection, but

must add that I suspect that skin tags are more likely coming from

excessive sugar consumption (ask me how I know!).

It is from reading Drs who specialize in diabetes that I learned the

possible connection to elevated blood sugar and skin tags.

Most of the 'tags' that I have are minute, but about 15 yrs ago I had a

large one pop out on my center, upper chest, right above my highest swim

suit. I had a tube of that 'black salve' called Icthammamol (I gave that

spelling my best shot!), and I put a 'blob' of that on a bandaid and

kept that tag covered. I changed the bandage and renewed the salve

whenever necessary, and the tag shriveled up and fell off within a few

days time. No sign that it was ever there now.

Could there not be a link between methylation and the high sugar though? I

thought um essentially meant sulphur deficiency, hence the reason folk with um

supplement methione or sam-e, forms of sulphur. I no sulphur is required for

insulin as they say um's are prone to diabetes later life due to insulin

deficiency.

I have a MTHFR mutation but no other tests to determine what might be happening

with Methylation. In the UK and don't have the money.

The moles are all over my body and all over the bodies of family members with ME

or similar illnesses. It's been an unofficial marker for us to watch for as they

develop early on before ME strikes.

Kindest regards,

Annette

Hi I am also from the uk and whereas you said money was an issue biolab in

london measured my homecysteine and histamine levels as methylation 'markers'.

Someone once told me the best methylation analysis was urine amino acids but I

never pursued that
