Guest guest
Simon. Also have osteoporosis at about 36-37 percent level. Also refusing to take fosamax or similar.Do we have to use strontium not together with calcium,at different times? Also does it have to be taken on empty stomach. I have so many supplements to be taken on empty stomach and it is difficult for me to organize taking it on empty stomach. I would appreciate any further info on how to take calcium and strontium? thanks nil Re: off topic/osteoporosis--Joyce I also have osteoporosis for at least 7 years, I am only 58 now and this is very unusual for a man. My enforced sedentary lifestyle may be partly responsible but i suspect that the cfs is the main cause and would recommend a dexa scan for long term sufferers. My Doctor prescribed fosamax which I take, But I also take strontium 4000iu d3 and cal/mag supplements. I am concerned that the long term effects of fosamax may leave the bones brittle following a recent study. Simon

I never copied or bookmarked the research, so I can't give you links. It showed that strontium *CANNOT* be taken with any form of calcium. Calcium blocks its absorption. The ideal treatment is: Take 680 mg. of strontium one hour before breakfast, on an empty stomach with water only. Calcium should be taken in two divided doses, one at lunch, one at dinner. You must also take Vitamin D3 (no other form! in divided doses, breakfast, lunch and dinner), zinc, selenium, boron (3 mg., no more), magnesium, and some recommend silica (such as from horsetail). Many of the people in the study increased their bone density 174% in six months. The timing of calcium and strontium taking is critical, since the body requires them at specific times to build bone. You must also greatly decrease your intake of phosphate (stop drinking all sodas that contain phosphoric acid), cut out or greatly decrease sugar, do not eat more than 40 to 60 grams (1.5 to 2 ounces) of protein per day, cut out or greatly reduce alcohol consumption, avoid all hydrogenated oils and use only olive oil, butter or coconut oil, eat more fish (for the omega 3s) and more fiber. This is what I'm doing.
