Guest guest
Hi , My daughter, Sammy, had a bone marrow biopsy done about a year ago. She was under general anesthesia, so she didn't feel anything during the procedure, and had only mild soreness afterwards. She was feeling back to normal in a day or two. Good luck, --Lori

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
It is routine for kids who have neutropenia and leukopenia. It will rule out cancer/leukemia. It can tell them if the marrow is producing enough cells or not. Some neutropenias are caused by antibodies that destroy the cells in the blood stream. They will look at cellularity, ratio of cells, types of cells and numerous other things including changes is shape and size, etc. Please feel free to email me off-list if you have questions. My boys have had 12 (J) and 15 (S) BMBs -- For info on Bone marrow biopsies (complete with pictures of my boys BMBs) and neutropenia, you can go to www.shwachman.50megs.com <http://www.shwachman.50megs.com/> I also have links to sample BMB reports and info on BMBs. Guest guest
Hello, I am 36 years old and have been diagnosed with CFS. My symptoms began just over 3 years ago. Because of low white blood cells, I had a bone marrow biopsy done. The results of the biopsy show a possible myelodysplastic syndrome. Has anyone here had a bone marrow biospy with similar findings? Feel free to contact me through the group or privately. Yannick
Guest guest
hi yannick. my advice is to send blood to VIP Dx and get tested for XMRV...then convince a doctor to put you on antiretrovirals. i would not want you to develop leukemia or lymphoma from XMRV! just my 2 cents... love sue ________________________________ From: cancfs <ambitious8@...> Sent: Wed, July 28, 2010 5:30:28 PM Subject: Bone Marrow Biopsy Hello, I am 36 years old and have been diagnosed with CFS. Guest guest
Hi Sue, Does XMRV lead to leukemia? I think I had read that somewhere but can't recall where. Have you had a similar bone marrow biopsy? You have started antiretrovirals...are they helping? Take care. Yannick
Guest guest
hi yannick. XMRV can, in some cases, lead to leukemia. I have not had a biopsy. I have been on the meds for 4 months now and they are helping. I was sick for almost 18 yrs so I think it might take a very long time for me to feel better. I hope it happens. Guest guest
What? Where is there ANY evidence to back up your claim that XMRV can lead to leukemia? Please post a link, or some sort of proof, that it can, even in " some cases " . Thanks in advance, Dan > > hi yannick. XMRV can, in some cases, lead to leukemia. Guest guest
not only leukemia but i think lymphoma too. untreated, CFS usually leads to some kind of cancer. i think the other cancers are from immune supression. you can do a search for XMRV and leukemia/lymphoma. a small percentage of dr. peterson's lake tahoe patients ended up matle cell myphoma. you can also look at the whittemore-peterson institute's website. sue xoxo ________________________________ From: Dan B <kdrbrill@...> Sent: Sun, August 1, 2010 6:12:35 PM Subject: Re: Bone Marrow Biopsy What? Guest guest
Hi, I have not had a bone marrow biopsy, but my doctor had me have a manual blood smear done by a hematologist because I have persistent elevated T cells (mild). My cells were normal on the smear and they thought they were elevated not because of cancer but because of persistent infection (another cause of this). Did you have an abnormal smear? Are you anemic? My understanding is that myelodysplastic syndrome can cause anemia, which in turn causes fatigue. Maybe you don't have CFS and this is why you are tired? What does your doctor think? What is the history of your illness? A > > Hello, > > I am 36 years old and have been diagnosed with CFS. Guest guest
Hello, My illness began very acutely. On Thursday nigth I was feeling great and on Friday morning I woke up with a strong flu-like illness. That was over 3 years ago and I have been sick ever since. The reason I had a bone marrow biopsy is because my white blood cells are consistently low (3.2) and my platelets have started to drop in the past 3-4 months. Surprisingly, my hemoglobin is quite good...so I don't have anemia. So the anemia is not causing my fatigue. We are trying to figure out what is. My doctor is not sure what to think. I am too young to have myelodysplastic syndrome...it usually affects people who are older (60's or 70's) and my history is not typical of myelodysplastic syndrome. So he is trying to find out why I have an abnormal marrow. > > > > Hello, > > > > I am 36 years old and have been diagnosed with CFS.
