Guest guest
I haven't tried that Metagenics product, but see similarities to NT Factor, in that it's intended to reduce mitochondrial oxidative damage. I have taken NT Factor intermittently for the past 9 months. Initial reaction was like speed, which cranked me to crash in a few days. Starting the NT Factor over, slowly, I was able to get my butt moving a lot better after a few weeks. After 3 months, combined with exercise I stopped the NT Factor and noticed no difference, but was in excellent health. Then I resumed it and noticed more stable energy levels and maintained it at three a day until a recent unrelated adrenal/thyroid crash. NT Factor runs me $30 a for #90 w/ their auto-ship every three weeks. I take 2 to 3 a day (normally) so it piles up and I stopped the shipping for a while until I worked through the remainder. http://www.ntfactor.com/our-science/mitochondrial-function/ has some more specific info & http://www.ntfactor.com/our-science/mitochondrial-function-and-supplements/ is more general. Ive read about all these ingredients for mito function and tried most of them separately. Some with good and not so good results. This formula however may work better in combination? i tend to trust metagenics for high quality being practitioner products, they often work better than others. It's an expensive supp but im considering trying it. Anyone else tried it yet? http://www.metadocs.com/PDF/dr_brochures/MET807%20Mitochondrial%20Res%20Dr%20Bro\ chure.pdf Chris. Many people are already taking the individual supps included here, and in higher amounts. Some ingredients are here in name only, since amounts are so tiny: red grape skin, COQ10, B2, B1. Try it and see how it goes, this one it won't hurt you, even if you're moderately high in cysteine, since the amount here is still fairly small. Carol W. Guest guest
Hi . Interesting! Would be worth trying. I am however sensitive to certain B vitamins, and can only tolerate them in very small doses - say 5-10mg without getting a big headache. Therefore I only take B complex every 3rd day or so, which helps avoid the headache but does give benefit. Awesome that its benefited you so much! Im about 90% bedbound at the moment, due to my adrenals crashing totally late 08. Its taken over a YEAR just to get some minimal function back - i can finally cook most nights, which is still an effort, do light cleaning now and then, and work a bit late at nite on various things. All day though I have my eyes shut and cannot do anything, very frustrating. I dont process drugs well at all (very poor liver detox), but need HC to live, therefore im in a bit of a situation unfortunately. In all that info (which im too tired to read all of right now, but will!) I couldnt find a list of ingredients WITH amounts.. i clicked on some other NT factor advanced but it doesnt seem like the same formula? No phos chol etc. Can you point me to a link to the specific product with the nutritional info etc? Cheers, Chris. > > > > I haven't tried that Metagenics product, but see similarities to NT Factor, in that it's intended to reduce mitochondrial oxidative damage. Guest guest
Thanks Carol. I realise this indeed, as many of the ingredients are among the most well used supps for energy/CFS etc. Most are proven somewhat to work for their various intentions in different people. I've had great results from especially NAC, like 3-5hrs after a dose I've sometimes gotten the best energy and mental clarity ive had in a long time, on doses of like 600-750mg. However, the NEXT day I'm REALLY wiped out, whole body is more wrecked than usual, worse fatigue, sore muscles, irritable, groggy, etc. I then don't take it that day and the next day am ok again (as far as I go). Hence why I cannot take it daily. I'm pretty sure it must clear a bunch of toxins at once (my ARL/Genova liver detox profile showed almost zero glutathionation), maybe giving that initial lift, then as all those toxins are out of the tissues and circulating the next day I feel awful. Makes sense I suppose? This is another reason Im interested in this formula, as theres only 50mg NAC instead of the much higher doses. Low doses of anything always agree with me better. Im sure i wouldnt get that few hrs of 'kick' i get from high dose NAC tho. Perhaps if i build up the NAC at low doses i'll eventually be able to tolerate higher every day, which I feel may help me in many ways to start functioning again. I just feel so bad each time the day after that it puts me off. How do you find out if one has high cysteine levels? Im sure its a specialised test from alt prac's etc as mainstream certainly wouldnt test that. Anyways thanks a lot. ~Chris. > > > > This I think is a newish product from Metaganics. > > http://www.metadocs.com/PDF/dr_brochures/MET807%20Mitochondrial%20Res%20Dr%20Bro\ chure.pdf > > > > Chris. Guest guest
Hi yes a more modest or small amount of NAC could be better and avoid the chelation/toxics backlash. Cysteine is tested in a UAA (urine amino acids) test, 24 hr collection is my preference. Doctor's Data lab. The UAA is a great test and although ostensibly testing present function, I think it shows many constitutional tendencies and has broad usefulnes, so is an excellent investment.
