Guest guest
There is no quick fixes. You didn't get this way overnight and you are not going to get the weight off overnight, and certainly not in 6 weeks. There is no way to safely lose that kind of weight in a short amount of time. Most people lose water and precious muscle and maybe fat. If you are truly sick and tired of where you are then why don't you hire a trainer at your gym. Even if you can only do it a couple of times a week for one month it would get you off to a good start and you can learn how to do your exercises correctly with perfect form. The other thing is to give the BFL eating a chance. I suggest this to all of my clients. I have had clients who had 80 plus lbs to lose and who did very well, when they stuck to this program. We have our own 90 day challenge at my gym that I work at. I have seen this program work in every situation. My first client and the first winner of our 90 day program went from eating one time a day and doing 1 and a half hours of cardio a day to eating 5-6 times a day and doing cardio 3 times a week for 30 mins. She dropped her body fat from 28% to 18% and lost over 20 lbs. Another winner I trained didn't lose one single lb, she lost 17 and a half inches and a bunch of body fat (I can't remember). Another I trained, lost 30 lbs and a bunch of body fat. The one thing they all had in common is that they all ate BFL. Yes, they even took a free day or free meal. Just give this program a chance. Go to BFL website, print out the food list, put it one the fridge and if it's not on the list, don't eat it!! Get a trainer. Find the money, borrow the money, Believe that you are worth it!! We are talking about your health, physical and mental, not just your looks. I hope that helps. Let me know if I can do anything. You may be able to work something out at the gym. My gym works with people and payments. > > Hi, > > Introduced myself a few days ago. Have well over 100 lbs to lose and > am so tired of " starting " over and over and getting fatter and > fatter. Guest guest
Pam Peeke's new book " Body for Life for Women " might be for you. She kind of sets it to you straight - the whole, there are no secret quick ways, and she explains why you should do certain things. I found her explanations motivational and the frequently asked questions section really good. She's not so hard core, all or nothing, get buff in 12 weeks, she's more....realistic. Read that or the original body for life, which is more cut and dry and strict, but easy to fall off of if you are an all or nothing type. You can do this!!! Maybe not in 6 weeks, but lots of small victorys slowly are better than big highs and lows. Slow and steady, small changes that you can do will get you there. Good luck! jojo > > I know I have to do it for my health. I have 2 young children and I > want to break out of this horrible body, I am starting to feel the > stigma in a big way. Hate it. Guest guest
Thank you Laurel for the boost. Amazing that someone can change their body fat % from 28 to 18 and only lose 20 lbs. What gym are you part of? I am in Sarasota Florida, and belong to Gold's. Was very consistent, then kids got sick, then I slacked. Thanks again. Deb Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they're yours.
Guest guest
I use a trainer and sometimes we do work all the muscle groups at my workouts. Then other times we work only 2 muscle groups at each workout, working the whole body by the week. So yes, you can. It's good to change up your workouts about every 4 weeks. You didn't get overweight overnight, just take it one a day at at time. If you screw up, don't beat yourself up, just pick yourself up immediately and get back on track. It won't take long before your body feels so much better by doing BFL/EFL that you will want to keep it up! Good Luck! Debbie > Thank you Laurel for the boost. Guest guest
Amen to that!!! A lifestyle change rather then diet. Your absolutely right. If we look at this BFL as a lifestyle. We are bound to look HOT, someday. Some of us it will take longer, then others depending on where your starting in the program. But, if you look at this as a new life, it's different if you mess up one day or even two..oh well. Just get back on track and know if you continue to work at this, one day, your gonna be buff, and the scale will say what you want. Oh, of course we want to get there sooner. Sometime I look at the scale and think, man it's not budging. But, I think to myself, I look good enough for now, and feel great, and know that if I keep up the good work that I'm doing. Even if it takes a year. One day I will look really awesome. I have to. How can eating right, exercise, doing weights, not make you look awesome, ONE DAY?? Because this is now a new life for me. Look at BFL as a lifestyle, you will soon be the person you admire. You'll wake up to that person every day. Yourself!!! So we all need to just hang in there...That body we are all working so hard to get is there. It's just a matter of sticking to the program, for life. You cannot lose. laurelb80 <no_reply > wrote: I work at Women's World, which Gold's owns here in Tallahassee. I think all of the Gold's Gym are independently owned. Losing BF is what we need to be focused on. The scales are never a good indicator of what is happening to the body. I personally have been below a 100lbs (before I ever worked out) and have been a size 7/9 and have been 120lbs and been a size 2. Muscle is dense and takes up less space than fat. I had a friend do the Atkins diet and loose a bunch of weight, she looked smaller but was still fat and flabby...and gained every pound back and more. That is why I like BFL, it's normal, healthy eating and working out. It's a lifestyle change rather than a diet. > Thank you Laurel for the boost. I also loved a response someone gave on another board awhile ago when someone was complaining about the food getting boring... she said she was trying to make her LIFE more interesting so the food part didn't matter so much. Good advice. Sherry
Guest guest
Thank you . Just 3 quick questions. How to measure body fat %? How to know what amt of protein is in something? Guest guest
Thanks , I know I sound like a complete whiner, and I am starting tomorrow and getting my butt in gear. But have you or anyone tried the 6 wk Body makeover thing? The informercial has been called " across America " and also the 6WBMO by Thurmond. I know Body for Life makes alot of sense however, these other people are reporting losses of 23 inches and 28 lbs in 8 wks. Is that even possible? I don't know, I am so confused. The principle is the same as far as how often to eat, every 2-3 hours. His portions are 2 oz. protein and 1/2 cup starch and veggies at each meal. Lots of water. and lots of cardio at 55-65% the longer the better. Anyway, thanks for hearing me out. I just found out my body fat % is 54-56%, it is going to be a long haul. I just want to LOOK as good as possible on my trip to NY, not worried about my size tag or the scale. My skin, energy, etc. is just as important. Thanks. Guest guest
Debbie, I thought I'd tried every diet in the book. Seriously I was once 205, and now 129. But, this one is new to me. Does it include any weight training? I didn't hear you mention any. I was just wondering, because if you do straight cardio and no weights, you my lose quicker on the scale. But, you will be losing muscle. Muscle does weigh more then fat. (I'm sure you've heard that a zillion times), but it's true and if you lose muscle faster then fat the scale will seem as if it is going down. You will be really hurting yourself because, if you go off the diet you will gain it back, VERY fast. Muscle burns fat, and if you lose it, due to diet, that means when you stop the diet you will burn less calories, and gain even more weight back. Most diets that claim a certain weight loss, on the scale to go down at a fast pace is sacrificing muscle. I've be there, and I've learned the hard way. I know that you are desperate to lose fast., due to your trip. I've been in your position. I've been fooled by the claims of these secret, mystery diets that guarantee lots of weight loss quick, and I ended up fatter, sad, disappointed, and very depressed. I was ashamed for not doing good on the diet, and disappointed at myself for being a quiter. I couldn't understand why I could not stick to these diets. What was wrong with me. Well, it was not me, it was the cons and misleading diet world out to get rich, off of our despair, and desperation. Please, learn from my mistakes. Don't be fooled by diets that guarantee fast results. They are missing a important link. BFL is not a get slim fast approach. But, it is a get slim, and stay slim forever, never have to worry about diet again, be happy, and proud of yourself approach. (Wow, that's a mouth full). But, I will promise that you will see results. But, please buy some calipers and run over your scale. Because this is not about the scale. I'm in a size 6 at 129 pounds. When I was married I was 112, NO MUSCLE and at a size 6-8., that only proves that you will look better at a higher weight. But, it will come. Each day will be exciting to know that your getting thinner each day. You will be happier, and proud of yourself. You will become a new person from the inside out. I am so excited to say. I will never be fat again!! I could not say that before, BFL. I would be so desperate to do these mystery diets, and lose tons of weight, and scared to death, because I knew I'd gain it all back. Because I did not know how to maintain. Do the ? diet for life. Make it my life, Live it everyday. I've learned to be a different person through this program, and you will to. Make a new life for yourself. Don't make a new diet. debbie berry <debonaire1998@...> wrote: Thanks , I know I sound like a complete whiner, and I am starting tomorrow and getting my butt in gear. Guest guest
{Moderator: There is no one yet anywhere in the world as this was only the pilot study. This has to be verified by independent outside sources to confirm the results of the study. Then treatments will have to be evaluated (which HIV drugs or any other drugs) then studies to confirm those modalities SHOULD be done before we can even start to know the proper treatment. Then getting the word out to the various CFIDS doctors or naturopaths will take time. So a request like this is many months to several years away. You could see Dr. in Nevada - he would be the most knowledgeable or the folks at WPI BUT ALL treatments at this time are experimental - they are working on theories. There is still much to be learned about XMRV and its relation to CFIDS. There are many things that you can do to help yourself beyond pain meds. If you list your worst symptoms, I am sure the list can assist you or feel free to search the archives or the files/links section.} I am searching for a doctor who is knowledgeable about XMRV/CFIDS in the Northern Delaware area. I have been existing on pain medication for the past 1 1/2 years, absolutely not " curing " anything. Can someone give me some guidance/doctor's name? Thanks.
