I went to the link to check out the book and while it is not something I would pursue, the group voted some time back to allow this type of information on the list (I believe there is a poll if you wish to verify). We do allow discussion of books that are helpful to people so this was a little gray. Also, we are experimental and while that lends itself to research-oriented topics, we allow experimental information as well, not just research. Marti} Yeah, sure. Are you the author of this book? Who are you? Moderator Ken, please keep this crap off our research-oriented group. Thanks. Mort Caldwell in PA CFS since 1994 Here is an MD who pulled himself out of it You know the symptoms, he had them. I you read the intro to his book (free intro thanks to amazon.com) you know he could be on this group. More over he was told he could have CFS and Fibro, among all the other incomplete diagnoses he heard ourselves. http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/1416549714/ref=sib_dp_pt#reader-link I am buying it to learn more!!!! Guest guest
He does not seem to have had horrible immune system problems. Whenever i see someone like that i question whether he has CFS or something else.He does not claim he had CFS anyway. But may be interesting to read for secondary brain problems I developed in time. bw nil Here is an MD who pulled himself out of it > You know the symptoms, he had them. Guest guest
has anyone read it? i just read the intro available on line, wouldnt mind checking out more. he said he had a gut infection or something right? tht ties in with cfs sort of issues. isnt it agreed there are more than one type of cfs? i know that some people feel strongly there is just one m.e., but if so remind me, what is that one again? epstein barr, hhv 6? it seems possible there are several viruses and then related environmental insults that conspire together to make unlucky individuals cross over a threshhold from which for some of us there seems to be no going back to baseline. > > Hi > > Mrraba is long term member of this list. > I personally like discussion of books. > bw > nil > RE: Here is an MD who pulled himself out of it > > > > {Moderator: This is not Ken. Guest guest
I for one, thank you for posting about the book. I agree with Nil and respectfully disagree with Morton Caldwell. The author doesn't claim to have had CFS, but it's important to remember that 70% of the immune system is in the intestinal tract, and to suggest that the foods (or especially the chemically processed 'frankenfoods') have NO impact on anyone's health, is ignoring years of clinical evidence. The following is just a small sample of published clinical studies that show the effect of diet on immune function: http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/content/full/135/12/2912S http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12951363?dopt=Abstract http://iai.asm.org/cgi/content/abstract/51/2/455 http://lup.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/15/11/746 And especially this study, which shows a connection between DIET and CFS, along with an improvement when the diet and supplements were changed: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19112401 Respectfully, Dan > > He does not seem to have had horrible immune system problems. Guest guest
Yes amazing book. I read it. And implemented his protocol. I could not tolerate th CoQ10 with lycopene though. Howeever if you can tolerate the whole protocol it is right on the nose. > > > You know the symptoms, he had them. Guest guest
Interestengly enough I just finished a course azythromycin for a seasonal bug, and started taking the acidophilous bifidus w/o milk. I noticed a tremendous difference in how I feel when I take the friendly bacteria. I did this before but stopped after a couple of days I did not connect the improvement to the friendly bact then. I thought that it was the antibiotic. Now I see that the antibiotic cleaned the slate, the friendly flora keeps them right. When I stop for a couple of days I do not feel so great. Conclusion. It is the Flora that needs to be continued. I also noticed I improve drastically for a couple of days when I take activated charcoal. Then start feeling bad (detox). I just connected a possible reason for both: My restored flora balance produces the nutrients that my gut need to improve my immune system and health. Carbon helps short term because it cleans out everything, so do antibiotics. Acidophilous works long term w/o feeling badly because it is constanlty re-balancing my flora! > > > > He does not seem to have had horrible immune system problems. He's talking about glutathione, snps for detox, food allergies, parasites, autism. He had mercury poisoning. I haven't seen book yet but may make doctors and public more aware of issues discussed here, and how to attack them. I wonder if his steps make it clearer. Genova and Metametrix ads on pbs. Hope it helps me get tests in NY state.
