Hi Nil

I cannot remember if you were taking Siberian Ginseng but for me this

can cause real problamatic insomnia even taken just a breakfast and

lunch and in small amounts, 12 and 10 drops respectively.

I can only speak for myself and say that it doesn't.

Hi Nil,

If I take D3 in the evening, I have nightmares. If I take it in the morning, I

am okay. So I

would suggest taking it in the morning upon awakening.

Hi Nil:

I've been suffering from insomnia for the past few months, despite taking

valerian, skullcap, kava kava, passion flower, glutamine and Gaba. In the

past it worked, but all the sudden it was not working. After reading your

question, I realized that I used to take Vitamin D during the day, but

because of some changes in my schedule had started taking D at night. So, I

decided to try the supplements listed above without taking D at night and I

have had no trouble sleeping for the past two nights.

Maybe it is the power of suggestion. I really do not know. Either way,

thank you for raising this possibility. I recommend that you try removing D

from your night time pill group.

I stopped the Vit D precisely because of the marked insomnia.

It is easy to check, stop taking it for a few days and seen what

happens.

Thanks, but i have severe osteoporosis. It is helping with that. What should i

do?I wonder which system it is effecting and if there is any way to counteract

it.

Also,Isn't vitd3 fat soluble? In that case would it matter to take it in the

morning or at night?

thanks

Vit D is a hormone or pro-hormone. I speculate that

it has relationships to other hormones and neurotransmitters,

and may be promoting gene transcription and expression,

so the net effect may be stimulating for you.

Why not try taking Vit D in the morning with breakfast/food

and see how that goes. Also play with different amounts.

And balance this with other nutrients that may promote

bone density. [Ref: my " dexa " article, at url below]

Nil:

I was experiencing the same insomnia and I am on night four of successful

sleep. I did not stop taking Vitamin D, but I did simply change the time I

take it to the morning or Afternoon. Give it a shot Tracey

Thanks and Carol.

Carol what do you think about silica and ipriflavone in relation to

osteoporosis?

We can also obtain gelation from Chicken broth. Can't we? I am intolerant of red

meat so i might have trouble with gelatin products.

[Moderator: Remember not to fall into the " exists in " versus " sufficient " trap.

Walking to the corner gives you some Vitamin D if it is sunny, thus " We can also

obtain vitamin D from walking to the corner " is correct --- however it is false

to say " " We can also obtain sufficient/optimal vitamin D from walking to the

corner " . This applies to everything --- make sure you know the optimal quantity

and how much you are actually taking.... insufficient of the right stuff does

not get the benefit and may result in " no help " reports causing something that

will help being discarded....]
