Bill,

First, it's a good opportunity for me to say a big " thank you " for all

the wonderful info you give to this list! Much of it has been very

helpful to me, personally.

For the Beta Glucan

Go to:

http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/

this month their entire catalog is 30% off. They carry the NSC brand,

which is supposedly the one that most professionals use. The company

name is ...

----oh phooey.

I just went downstairs and dug it out. Good thing, too, because for some

reason they've dropped the " Beta Glucan " from the product description.

Some of this is made from rice bran, I believe.

For those without a lot of money to burn, I need

to inform you that we sell the Metagenics brand out of

our office every day for about 30-50% of the prices I have

seen listed elsewhere.

Just one example, we sell the Metagenics Metagest 90 tabs

for $10.46. You can check the other sites for a comparison.

The suggested retail is $13.95, so if someone is selling it for

more than that, they're making major money on a large markup.

That goes for all the other Metagenics products.

I also sell the Immutol 425 Beta 1.3/1.6 Glucan (60 caps)

for $50. It is an excellent supplement for a cancer patient.

My wife's uncle had terminal lung cancer and is now in

total remission for a year after taking it plus Vit. O and

Flor-Essence tea.

I'm not in the mail-order business, but I have tried to save

you guys mucho bucks in the past by occasionally letting you

know about stuff. Trouble is, nobody ever follows through!

So I've been silent, not offering anything to you, but when I saw

prices listed elsewhere that were way too high.... I just thought

I would let you know, we're here. OK?

If you have a specific supplement you want, let me know.

Thanks, Sharon. I know the NSC brand is marketed widely, but I've

found out it's not made by the improved Norwegian extraction process.

So, unless I uncover some important new evidence, I'm going to be

looking for the Norwegian Beta Glucan, as distributed by ImmunoCorp

in Irvine, CA (http://immunocorp.com) 1-800-446-3063.

Thanks for reminding me of the Vitamin Shoppe web site.

Is " Immutol 425 " one brand name for the genuine " Norweigian Beta

1,3/1,6 Glucan, " as distributed by ImmunoCorp, in Irvine, CA ?

Their phone line is totally jammed up -- 1-800-446-3063.

And they have no obvious distributors listed with any search

engine on the web. Very strange....

On another note, I just found out that " Norweigian Beta 1,3/1,6

Glucan " is definitely NOT " micronized " -- and that this is a

positive feature, which is apparently being misrepresented by their

major competitor.

To understand the larger context of " the facts, " check the last four

Q/A's on this page:

http://immunocorp.com/html/faq.html

IMO, don't spend your money on any " micronized " Beta Glucan, unless

you own stock in the Nevada Corporation that is promoting the

apparently less- bioactive, " micronized " formulation. Their appears

to be some very tricky propaganda in this attack article :

Will the Real Beta Glucan Please Stand Up! --

http://www.volatile.com/nsc/news/WilltheRealBetaGlucanPleaseStandUp.html

Again, read why micronizing is a BAD idea, with the VERY FRAGILE,

branched-chain, Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan molecule :

http://immunocorp.com/html/faq.html

- especially in the last section, titled: " If a Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan

product contains " micronized " particles, one micron or less, will it

be more effective and therefore require much smaller dosages? "

(The short answer is NO.)

By the time that other company gets done " micronizing " the fragile

molecules, what's left ? Mostly the inferior Beta 1,3 Glucan, and

other bio-inactive " fragments, " or what ? At least the Norwegian

Beta Glucan is delivered with a certificate of analysis, and

guaranteed to be 80% Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan -- with intact branching.

(The branching is absolutely necessary.)

Of course, " they " could argue that the " Beta 1,3 Glucan " (left over

from the grinding and blending of their micronizing) is a superb

product -- since THAT'S ALL they apparently advertised for sale

(two years ago), until the superior Norwegian Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan

became available in the U.S., and they suddenly had to " sing a new

tune " (and repackage their old product as " Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan " ?).

Now they have the gall (in the above attack article) to snidely

insinuate the Norwegian company can't be trusted, since they

allegedly changed their product's name, as any *honest* company

has every right to do.

Duplicitous dissembling and subterfuge ?

Give me Norwegian, any day.

Just help me find it, please.

Take care,

Bill

So, the " Immutol 425 " is the Norwegian type ?

You called them, yes ?

The Norwegian type is from ImmunoCorp (Irvine, CA), as

developed by Biotec ASA (Norway) -- does that check ?

It's funny that no one is advertising Immutol 425

on the web !

I'll be sending a M.O.

Thank you,

Hey, Bill,

That's the number on this bottle that I'm holding here, the immutol, and

Irvine, CA is on the bottle too, so I guess this is what you're looking for!

You're very welcome.

I'm now 'sitting up and taking notice' because I've used NSC's at the

higher strength and frankly didn't feel that I was getting any benefit

from it.

I was only dealing with something rather minor (I think), but I did

expect more of a " knockout " .

I'm saving Price's email with his offer in case I want to try this

again!

As always, a big thankyou Bill, for teaching me something new.

Hello,

Anybody done well on Beta glucan to try to balance TH 1-TH2 imbalance?

After about two or three weeks, I started developing cold virus symptoms,

fevers at night and so on. Right now, I'm not strong enough to deal with

cold viruses on top of my osteomyelitis/dental nerve injury situation.

Thanks,

I, too, would love to get more information on this! Last year I took the new

Epicor, which seems to work in similar fashion to Beta Glucan.

By my 3rd week of taking Epicor daily, I came down with the worst case of

bronchitis imaginable. I rarely get colds/flus, and had not had bronchitis in 30

yrs.

I was so sick that I even took abx, which did not work. My Dr finally put me on

a week's worth of Prednisone as he said it would be the only thing to deal with

the inflammation in the bronchial tubes. It worked, fortunately.

I'm really afraid to take these " immune boosters " now.

Anyone?
