Antibiotics are mostly used for bacterial infections, though there are some antibiotics for fungal or viral infections. I don't recommend garlic for bacterial infections especially in the ayurvedic pitta constitution or one with high pitta, which can take a bacterial infection with fever and sepsis to crisis proportions or worse. I found this out from personal experience years ago, but it was obvious after the fact. When one has a fever and sepsis, they're not always thinking that clearly. I'm not keen on garlic for therapeutic use either in viral or fungal infections, especially if one has high pitta. Have your own experience. YMMV. [see my articles " colds and flu " , " neti " , " sinus infections " , " mrsa/sepsis " , " spring liver cleanse " and two on " yeast infections " for more info and basic operating principles with an accent on understanding predisposition and prevention.] Carol W.
