I am slightly nearsighted in one eye and seriously impaired in the other due to astigmatism. My good eye had perfect vision until I was about 25, at which time I became slightly nearsighted and started wearing glasses. I'd love to reverse this obvious age-related decline but haven't yet found a way aside from surgery. There is some hope that growth hormone can help with improving vision, as Ellis mentioned. If nothing else the GH could help to keep the lens hydrated, which should help. > Also my MD says glasses don't accelerated the loss > of, but my eyes sure get tired quicker wearing them and it seems to take > longer to recover after reading for a while. If your eyes get tired quicker while wearing glasses then I think you might want to double check your prescription. -gts
Guest guest
YES I experience vision problems that come and go!!! I went to an opthamologist recently because I thought I needed new glasses. My RX did not change ...the opthamologist sent me for an MRI because he thought my complaints did not match his normal findings. I'm waiting for the final results...I was called back by the MRI tech Thursday to come in for more tests. I'm thinking they are looking for MS or white matter on the brain. I read on pub med that some CFIDS people have white matter. With my nuerological symptoms so bad I read that white matter is usually there. What this means...I'm not really sure. I've been sick since 1983 with CFIDS.....finding MS now?????? who knows. I can't see clearly when I want to and I occasionally see yellow spots....and I have positional vertigo. Now, I'm trying to understand what " white matter " is. With my nuerological symptoms so bad and the vertigo I'm slow at trying to find this out. I got sick in 1983 and my nuerological problems started ab out 1997 which is when I had my first MRI ...they were looking for MS then too. I'll deal with whatever is..isn't that what we do..... Guest guest
Yes mine does worsens too..be sure too tell your doc about it...worse thing he/she will do is look at you weird and we are all used to that. Tell your doc so he/she documents it...if ever needed in any type of review (SSD or long term disability). Most in my support group complain of the same thing. Great that you went to an opthamologist as I did...but mine has me going for MRI and to a nuerologist. Hopefully it is all just CFIDS related......I do remember my great doc, who retired, said...don't always attribute everything to CFIDS....rule other things out. Have you " ever " had an MRI? Probably a smart thing to do " if " you never did one. Then, there would be a " baseline. Guest guest
No, that actually was the first thing that *I* thought about, , but I am not him and my situation doesn't apply to everybody. He didn't mention in his original post (the one that I replied to) that he had already seen an eye doctor and that that hadn't been helpful. You know, I agree with you on a lot of what you say, but this isn't one of them. I have no idea where he is either. Guest guest
With the coagulation model it would makes sense. The micro-thrombosis would increase, resulting in less oxygen reaching the eyes. So there would a matching improvement or worsening of symptoms. > > Do you experience your eye sight going worse when your condition gets worse and it gets better when your condition gets better? It seems to me that if a conventional opthalmologist found nothing abnormal, the next step would be to consider some less known eye condition that is mediated in direct correlation to illness exacerbation. You are aware biotoxin illness matches that description, yet you feel that you shouldn't suggest it because this might not apply to everybody? If there is any chance it might apply in this case, don't you think he'd like to hear about it? -
Guest guest
Hi Nil, When I first read your post I immediately thought of the lack of blood flow and oxygen to the brain. I think Ken is correct. Have you tried using Dr. Cheney's Gookinaid or salt before or after exertion? Are you on any blood thinners? You might experiment and see if either or both help. I also experience this and relate it to when my adrenals are stressed. But, it has always felt like there wasn't enough oxygen/energy to the eyes. -- In , " Ken " <ken.lassesen@...> wrote: > > With the coagulation model it would makes sense. Guest guest
Thank you all who have answered my inquiry.Another thing that comes to my mind is weakening of muscles.could it be the cause? Ken I re read your site on anti coagulants. Thanks for the info you have given there. I am having bothering brain swelling problem. I need to increase brain circulation. I am regularly taking 1000 I.u. vit d3 per day. also using some using turmeric with meals. I added 2 capsules of bromelain per day. did not give sufficient help. planning to add epo and ginkgo. can I take bromelain, epo and ginkgo biloba in the same day safely? you say at your site that one should not take ginkgo together with ginseng. I guess this applies to rhodiola,too..Is that correct? thanks alot. nil Re: eye sight > > > Hi Nil, > When I first read your post I immediately thought of the lack of > blood flow and oxygen to the brain. Guest guest
I don't think SMA has anything to do with it, but there are medications that can affect your eye sight. Guest guest
I don't take any medications. I don't know what could possibly be wrong, but I really don't want to go to the eye doctor. Guest guest
Why don't you want to go to an eye doctor? Your eyesight can be affected by problems with your general health (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) as well as diseases of the eye. My son was diagnosed with toxoplasmosis as an infant and couldn't tell us that there was a problem. As a result, he has retinal scarring (can't be fixed) in the macula of both eyes. He is legally blind in one eye because he has no central vision. If the scars were in the center of both eyes, he wouldn't be able to read, watch TV, play video games or use the computer. Don't risk your vision. You are too young and the sooner a diagnosis is made the better your chances are for a positive outcome. > > > From: <h_on_wheels7> > > > Subject: Eye Sight > > > @gro ups.com > > > Date: Monday, July 14, 2008, 5:35 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have had 20/20 vision my entire life (I'm 19), but recently I've > > > > > > noticed a change in the vision of primarily my left eye, but my right > > > > > > eye too.
