Guest guest
Hi, I'm curious to know if anyone has experienced dffuse hair loss due to CFS. I am female, and had a mop of hair. Now I have about 1/3 the hair I had when I was in my 40's. Menopause seems to have accelerated it, and I also have a low thyroid condition that came on about 2 years ago. I've been taking levoxyl for it. Please share your experiences, and any successes in overcoming this problem.

If you've only been hypo a couple of yrs and/or taking levoxyl for it that amount of time, it's possible your meds and thyroid levels are not yet optimized. A medicated thyroid optimally needs a TSH around 0.5-1.0 (not over 2.0), and free-T4 and free-T3 in the upper third of reference range. High alcohol use, high amts of spicy food, high use of coffee & tea, high stress, shock, grief, can contribute to hair loss. High testosterone, high estrogen as it can metabolize to testosterone can contribute. Any and all hormones are suspect, as they all work together. Blood sugar levels too high/low can contribute in some people. Vor me, too high Vitamin D fosters a lot of hair loss, but not sure of exactly why.
