Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am the mother of three, two girls aged 4 and 2 and a 5 month old boy. My first had her first three sets of injections when she was a baby, I was clued up enough to ask for the vaccines without mercury, but hadn't done any proper reading then. I did ask the health visitor about safety and effectiveness of course, but unsurprisingly she just sang their praises. I bought some books on vaccination when we visited our homeopath with our daughter for an unrelated matter and decided on the basis of my reading that I wasn't going to vaccinate any more, so my first didn't have any more vaccinations and my other two haven't had any. Apart from being convinced that vaccinations don't actually work, that they can be dangerous, are full of things I wouln't otherwise willingly put in my body and can make us susceptible to even more dangerous strains of certain diseases ie measles I decided that my conscience would be cleaner if my child did die of a natural disease than from a man made concoction that I had decided to inject him/her with. I still can't believe how vaccinations have got so far as they have and they are still bringing out more. The latest I have heard is a vaccination for cervical cancer which they are considering giving to all girls in the UK. (I live in Switzerland at the moment but am from Scotland.) What prompted me to join this list was that I had some people to dinner recently and the topic of vaccination came up and I said that we hadn't vaccinated and how after a few questions from one particular person I didn't believe they were effective or safe. He wouldn't even countenance the idea that there was real evidence of the ineffectiveness of vaccinations that didn't come from 'quacks'. I explained that one of the books I had read was based entirely on studies and research published in medical journals and done by conventional doctors. (It is a red book with black type on the front, I can't remember what it is called right now!) Then he started asking me if I was advocating not vaccinating the entire Third World too as the vaccines had eradicated so many diseases there. I was really at a loss for words as I couldn't remember any specifics from the books as I had last read them about three years ago. I was wondering what other people would have said to this? I would be tempted to say there isn't any point arguing with someone like this, but I think it is probably the most important to get through to someone like this if possible. Obviously I need to go back and read again and hopefully I will get some good information from this list, but I would be grateful if anyone could tell me what have or might have done/said in this situation.
