Guest guest
Are you breastfeeding your baby? It is frightening that they are prescribing drugs for one so young. Did you happen to find out what the possible side-effects of Losec are? Your baby is wise to reject this foreign, toxic substance. A good homeopath can help if you're willing to try. Sheri Nakken (the listowner) can lead you in the right direction...Anita Malia <I_AM_MALIA@...> wrote: I know this has nothing to do with vaxing, but I was hoping you could help me out. She won't take it. And I'm not sure how hard I want to try and force her. I am just not comfortable giving her a drug that virtually shuts down her acid production, especially if she doesn't have GERD...that can't be good for her!!!!! Guest guest
HI Malia I would say congrats to your daughter for not taking the pills! You don't want to put toxins in her body. I know it is hard for you to see her like that though. My daughter was fussy and spat everything up until I worked out what did not agree with her in my diet. If you are breastfeeding, I would try eliminating everything that has dairy, corn (including corn syrup which is in everything processed), beans and soy out of your diet. Then give it a week and see if she is better. If she is not better try eliminating wheat too. Then wait a week. If she is better, try adding one thing back at a time and wait a week in between. If it is dairy, you may want to try raw milk before you go back to pasteurized milk. (My daughter has severe reflux from pastureized milk but drinks raw milk by the gallon! If you are breastfeeding it is most likely the dairy or soy in the formula, but also could be corn if it is in there. Try one of the sensitive stomach formulas or make a natural formula made from raw milk that is recommended by the Weston Price Foundation. (search Weston Price and formula and it should come up). Hope that helps. Guest guest
Yes, I am breastfeeding exclusively (despite how difficult it has been!)...sorry I forgot to mention that. She will be 6 months on the 18th and appears ready for solids. I did give her a taste of mashed banana a couple of times, but stopped when I thought I saw blood in her poop (hubby says it wasn't). The only side effect listed was headache. But I have to wonder about the long term effects of shutting down acid production????? I am in the process of trying to find a naturopthic doctor to help her, but we can't even get out of the house and it has been really rough. Guest guest
An elimination diet has been next on my list. But it seems so overwhelming. Between Lily's constant fussiness and my fibromyalgia, showers and teeth brushing have become luxuries. I can't even comprehend how to eat well at the moment. I know that sounds pathetic. Can you give me some tips on what you did eat when you did the elimination? I wish we could get raw milk here (alberta, canada) but so far we can't. I get a raw milk protein drink from Mercola.com though..... > > HI Malia > > I would say congrats to your daughter for not taking the pills! You don't > want to put toxins in her body. Guest guest
Hi Malia -- An elimination diet can be overwhelming but if you concentrate on what you can have -- lots of fresh fruits and veggies, brown rice, lean meats and poultry (preferably organic), it's not as bad as it sounds. The hardest part is giving up the chips, prepared foods and baked goods (which aren't good for us to begin with). Just remember, you only need to get through a week or so. If there's no change, you can add it back. Good luck. Health & blessings, Our cleaners are... Guest guest
Hi Malia, I basically ate organic meat, veggies and fruit. The meals were far from glamorous - very basic. Meat fried or roasted in the oven with coconut oil. Veggies steamed or raw. I kept away from the gassy veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, etc. For pasta, I ate rice pasta. I ate very little cereals and bread, because I don't normally. I know how hard it can be, but just fill your fridge with these things and throw out everything that could be tempting. You will see that if there is a difference in her fussiness, that you will also get your energy back. And remember you only have to do it for a week to begin with. I think you will find it is not as hard as you think. Good luck and feel free to ask any other questions. Guest guest
i also had to cut dairy out of my diet for kaya...it helped a lot! i take a calcium/mag supplement and also eat lots of fresh veggies, rice, etc...i know it's hard but if it works you will quickly adjust! Also i found that wearing her in some kind of carrier helped her to fuss much much less. don't know if you already do, but kaya is 8 months old and 10kg now, and i still do it every day, whether we go out or not. in fact if it gets to be 4 or 5pm and she hasn't been in it yet, she gets real grumpy...she immediately changes her mood when i put her in the pack! even if she continues to fuss, at least she is comforted by being so close to you and you can have two free hands if you need them! > > > > HI Malia > > > > I would say congrats to your daughter for not taking the pills! > You don't > > want to put toxins in her body. Guest guest
Hi Malia, I agree FULLY with . Most, most, mostly cows milk. Babies are not made to digest that stuff that young. Can't tell you how many times I hear of infant reflux, see it, and see it improve when a mom actually eliminates that stuff from her (if breastfeeding), and babies diet (as a homebirth midwifes assistant and doula, and mom). I have had the experience myself, first, reflux with projectile vomiting, I was a tired mom from breastfeeding all day long, up until around 5 months when I figured out to eliminate all dairy from my diet, elevate him from the waist up if lying down for a half hour after a feeding, feed in small increments, like on for a minute, off for 15 sec's, on for a minute, off for 15 sec's (seems cruel to some, but when things go down slower, it helps, and they get used to feeding that way, it just takes longer).. For sleep, anywhere he slept, he was elevated from waist up. Diaper changes, same (like a folded blanket or a flat pillow and such. Their digestive systems are more fully developed anywhere from 6 to 10 months (anyone know the exact statistic?), so it's simple, if we all knew this (we are not generally told this, and how to take care of the undeveloped digestive system....ARGH!), we'd have less babies being prescribed MEDS!!! another argh! I hope this helps. My second (both homebirthed, non vaxxed) never had sleeping problems or spit up at all unless I had dairy! I was amazed. email me if you would like to discuss any more, I would love to share and help. Cassie Sala mama to Canyon 11/11/03 and River 12/30/05 my home/water birthed boys Birthmom to Sam 5/10/00 herbalmamacass@... HI Malia I would say congrats to your daughter for not taking the pills! Hope that helps. C
Guest guest
I agree too ! And I think you are very wise to look for a root cause and not just accept a drug to treat the symptoms, because that won't solve anything. Our DS had terrible GERD. He spent his first two months of life screaming about 20 hours a day and nobody believed me...I finally insisted on trying Zantac when he was 8 weeks old and the screaming stopped, but he was highly dependent on the Zantac and would start screaming as soon as it wore off. I had tried " cutting back " on dairy for two weeks, but when it didn't make any difference, our ped said it " clearly was not a problem with dairy in my diet " . He went on to develop a condition like asthma too, and was daily inhaled steroids and Singulair. He had never had any dairy in his own diet, because he got hives from it when we tried a tiny bit of cottage cheese when he was one, but our ped told me that the dairy in my diet would not affect him since he didn't get hives from nursing...finally when he was 20 months old and had sensory integration issues, someone online told me to try eliminating all casein from both our diets....lo and behold, eight weeks of 100% casein-free life later he was not only calmer than he had ever been in his life, but he didn't need the Zantac or the asthma treatments anymore either !!! Dairy was really messing him up, his whole life, and it was all the dairy in my own diet, not his. I had to cut it out for eight weeks to see the complete change. The few times I have accidentally consumed even minute amount of dairy and then let him nurse, he has been sick, hyperactive and violent for four days, so I know it's real. Dairy is a food that just does not work for many kids and it gets into breastmilk. If I was going to start eliminating foods, I would start with all dairy and any processed foods with ingredients derived from dairy....casein, caseinates, whey, milk solids, dairy-derived lactates, cheese, etc for a couple of months. If you need information about how to live without dairy, let me know; I can share how I do it. B. > > Hi Malia, > > I agree FULLY with . Most, most, mostly cows milk.
