I enjoy reading Dr. Sears' positions on many things. I thought for sure he would be against vaccinations. But he is not. I have emailed him a couple of times asking him how much money he gets from the vaccine companies to be pro vax. He has never responded. Guest guest
I actually dont think he will ever have Dr Sears on again in the capacity that he did. He (Dr Phil)looked like a jackass. Guest guest
I missed it. In what capacity was Dr. Sears on? Guest guest
The show I saw recently last week was with Dr. Sears and his sons (Martha was there, too, but sat with some new moms and didn't really have much of a chance to talk.) They talked about issues where a mom wanted to nurse past 1 year and have baby in the room with them at night but hubby didn't like it. Dr. Phil doesn't approve of co-sleeping (he said this, but then let Dr. Sears give their professional opinion) but all the Sears doctors told them mom to bring the baby to bed with them and to continue nursing. They also discussed " letting the baby cry it out " and Dr. Phil said that he thought you shouldn't pick the baby up every time he cries, but he even referred to his wife in the audience and she said she always went with her instinct and didn't let their boys cry. The Sears doctors all said to respond to your baby's cry, and encouraged moms to not let the baby cry it out, etc. During this episode it did make Dr. Phil look quite silly and I was surprised he would refer to the Sears doctors as THE Top experts in the country or something to that effect. He also announced he would have the Sears doctors again (and I've heard he's had them on before?)... we'll see! Carren Panico <chlobot@...> wrote: I missed it. In what capacity was Dr. Sears on? Guest guest
They were up on the stage with Dr Phil as a guest/expert opinion. Dr Phil didn't agree with anything they said, and the look on his face when they were talking about co-sleeping and CIO was priceless. In a message dated 1/28/2007 7:54:12 A.M. I agree w/this statement. When I started researching vaccines, I was pro vaccine. I was also pro cry it out, against co-sleeping, etc. (I had no kids, therefore I knew it all). Thru my vaccine research, I came across the other stuff. While I don't co-sleep (my daughter's choice, we tried it and both hated it), I do some other attachment stuff. I think thru his attachment parenting research he must have come across vaccine stuff. I'm not trying to insult anyone who vaccinates, really I'm not, but if you do the research it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the TRUTH. He seems like a reasonably intelligent guy, so I'm sure he also knows the truth. Sometimes fear or money clouds the truth. Holly
Guest guest
Thanks. I didn't catch this either. Maybe Dr. Sears really believes vaccines are good. Dr. Weil is so enlightened about a lot of things too. But when it comes to vaccines, same thing. If my memory serves me well, he has admitted (in Readers Digest, I think) to vaccinating his own children, so there is obviously a belief. They are both more progressive than most doctors and we should be thankful for that and hope they will someday see the light on vaccines as well. If everyone typed in a reasonable vaccine question backed up by evidence for him to ponder, you never know what he might begin thinking about....Anita SquishyMommyof2@... wrote: They were up on the stage with Dr Phil as a guest/expert opinion. Guest guest
Do you really think that he is pro vaccine or that he has taken himself to a level of expertise with parents and a bit of fame and is afraid of risking that by not touting the benefits of vaccines? I always wonder stuff like that. I mean if he came out and said that they weren't such a good thing, he would be crucified by the medical community altogether. He may just be trying to save himself. Guest guest
Good point, although I don't think he's probably opposed to vaccines. But, yes, he's already " out on a limb " by promoting attachment parenting, wouldn't be wise to self-ostracize more. -Angie On Sunday, January 28, 2007, at 05:40 PM, <Sassygirl1218@...> wrote: > Do you really think that he is pro vaccine or that he has taken > himself to a level of expertise with parents and a bit of fame and is > afraid of risking that by not touting the benefits of vaccines?
