No do not sign that. Read it first. You do not have

to sign it.

When you sign it, you take the pediatrician off the

hook and YOU are responsible for every little thing

that can concieveably be blamed on YOU for not

vaccinating your children.

It is not necessary to have on file. READ IT. You

may need another pediatrician, however, since your

pediatrician may fire you if you do not sign it.

Off the hook for what? Are they concerned that if your child gets a

disease for which children are vaccinated that you can say " my doctor

never told me to get the vaccination " ? Because that sounds like a

reasonable fear to me on their part. How would signing this form enable

the pediatrician to blame you for something unrelated to the

vaccination, as you suggest below? -Angie

Read the form and you will see. It says, as I recall,

that you understand that vaccinations prevent

childhood diseases which can be dangerous, etc., and

you are assuming responsibility, absolving the doctor

who is trying to get your kid vaxed at all costs.

Just doing their job.

I believe I signed it. By my signature, I wrote that I do not vaccinate for

religious reasons, not the ones listed on the form that make me look ignorant

and neglectful................Anita

I'm actually OK with taking full responsibility for my child and letting the

doctor " off the hook " as you say. The real problem with that form is that it has

mom and dad " admit " (as if we believed it to be so) that we are putting our

children at risk for disease when in fact the opposite is true. Oh, and they

work for us, so it is virtually impossible for them to fire us. IMO, they would

be " quiting " which makes it all the easier for us to move.;~).......Anita

I know that doctors " work " for us. I am simply

implying here the uniqueness of the patient/physician

relationship.

You may have confidence in your plumber, but you have

faith in your doctor. The relationship between a

doctor and and a patient is said to be a " sacred

relationship " .

Yet the doctor will turn on you, quit, and report you

to the government.

When it comes to vaccinations, the true relationship

is between the doctor and the government, both of whom

have colluded using their respective powers over the

population to be sure virtually everyone is

vaccinated.

I guess the trick is to find a doctor who is wise enough to respect the

parents choice not to vaccinate and not let that interfere with why the child

has been brought to the office in the first place. For us it is mostly annual

physical exams required by the school. Any doctor who is looking to cause

trouble for a family because of a mother's informed choice to not vaccinate her

child and who is a threat to that family staying together as a whole is a RAT.

We need to be able to smell those rats from the start. I have never run into

this problem. Though almost every ped I haved worked with over the years doesn't

agree with me, they were still able to seperate that from giving attention and

care to my children. Now if I were to bring my children in with one of the

" preventable " childhood diseases, I might be faced with a different

relationship. Maybe it's because I live in NY, but I think there are more

open-minded doctors out there than we often give credit for. In many

many cases, it is how we present ourselves to the doctors that determines the

reactions and results we get. They are not all hopelessly indoctrinated into

allopathic medicine, but God help us if we run into one that is in ER......Anita

Is this something standard if you chose not to vaccinate? My

daughters are unvaccinated, and their doctor has never even blinked

an eye at it and I have never heard of this form?

Angie - I have only encountered it at the current ped's office (it's been at

least 4 years) I am using. It is a rather large group as compared to the

smaller, more independant peds I have used in the past. But I don't know if that

has anything to do with it. Nobody is blinking an eye otherwise. Because my

reason for not vaxing is religious, it has no place in the ped's office for

discussion. That works out very nicely for me in terms of avoiding

debates.....Anita
