Guest guest
From GlaxoKline . They are advertising new treatment for Restless Legs Syndrome!! We kept thinking the commercial had to be a joke. Alas, it was not. Here's the website is http://www.restlesslegs.com <http://www.restlesslegs.com/> I haven't been to the site yet, but the commercial was laughable. )0(~~~)0(~~~)0( Mom to Brittany, born 08/31/93, dx'd IDDM 05/28/01; , born 06/28/97; Shayna, born 06/01/00; and Baby #4 due 05/07. Guest guest
Can you tell me about what the commercial said? My husband actually has this, so I am curious as to what their " cure " is and why you thought it was a joke? Thanks. Reminded me of one of the fake commercials they used to do on Saturday Night Live. I don't mean any offense to anyone who actually has the syndrome, the commercial was just bizarre. They didn't even say what the treatment was on the commercial, they just directed the viewers to their website, which I still haven't visited. )0(~~~)0(~~~)0( Mom to Brittany, born 08/31/93, dx'd IDDM 05/28/01; , born 06/28/97; Shayna, born 06/01/00; and Baby #4 due 05/07. Guest guest
That's how they operate. Stir up some curiosity and possibly some fear then the door is open to slap a " syndrome " or " disease " on any set of illness. And how do the pHARMa companies come to the rescue? With more drugs and vaccines of course! Chicken pox wasn't a deadly disease to be feared UNTIL there was a vaccine available for it. I have a family medical guide I bought in the late 80s. It says chicken pox is a mild childhood illness. Hmmm... About 5 years after that book was published, all of a sudden it turned deadly. It's all marketing. I'm sure I would be diagnosed with this if I went to an MD and complained about my leg symptoms that I've had as long as I can remember back into childhood. Do I need drugs for it? Goodness no! But I'm sure I would have some pushed on me if I went to an allopathic MD. No thanks. Kay RE: Re:You will not believe the commercial I just saw... > <<Can you tell me about what the commercial said? Guest guest
How nice of them not to tell you that restless leg syndrome is caused by a mineral deficiency...
Guest guest
Thank you for clarifying! I hate the way the pharmaceutical companies do this pushing of their drugs, etc., to the public. The book " Natural Cures " talks about this and says that is shows that we need to be educated. Doctors are " supposed " to be trained to diagnose and prescribe medications for what we need based on our symptoms, so why do they advertise prescription medications to the public? To make us think we need them, go to the doctor and ask about it, and if they won't prescribe it many people go to another doctor of theirs in order to deal with it. As far as restless legs, my husband's problem has been resolved almost completely by nutritional supplements and essential oils! He did not want to take the prescription any more so we made some changes. Thanks. Guest guest
Pharmaceutical companies spend more research on advertising than they do on research. And most of that advertising, despite the deluge we see on TV (which should be banned, in my opinion, since it should be your doctor deciding what you need), is directly to doctors. -Angie On Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 09:43 AM, Lora Pek wrote: > Thank you for clarifying! Guest guest
Iron - more often than not. Although I have heard of a connection with zinc. But Iron Deficiency Anaemia is one of the common causes of restless legs. Guest guest
Yes, I have seen it here many times in the last few weeks. How can a vaccine possibly cure " restless leg syndrome " . Wouldn't that be more a neurological/nervous system disorder? C.
