Guest guest
a while back someone posted an article on dogs getting sick (or was it dying?) from eating their owners' xylitol gum or candy. i use xylitol, so i wrote a big xylitol company in the US (they make Spry toothpaste and Xlear nasal spray) to ask about it. this is the response i got. i have no stake in the company, just forwarding their response. There have actually been no tests done on the effect of xylitol on dogs. Our product specialist has a little four pound teacup poodle; although he doesn't feed him xylitol, the dog has gotten into gum or mints that they keep in their home. The dog has not shown any adverse affects. Even if the xylitol is proven to be harmful to the liver of dogs, it doesn't work the same in humans. Xylitol is all natural and completely safe to use. It has a glycemic index of 7 which means it is not insulin dependent and is safe for diabetics to use. It has no affect on the blood sugar in humans. If you have any other questions please let us know. Thank you and have a great day! - Xlear Inc.
