Adrenal Test-strange results(attn:Pat)

Well, I just remembered, I DID have an adrenal test done. It was about 3 or

4 years ago(my memory is getting very bad lately) This was a test ordered by

an alternative MD I was going to for various IV treatments. The test was the

one where I had to collect several saliva samples, and that was very difficult

for me, as I have some kind of problem with exceptionally thick saliva and

trying to spit it into a little tube brings out a gag reflex. Anyway, when the

tests came back, the doctor was so mystified that he called the lab.

According to the test results my adrenals were working ok.

THIS CANNOT BE, because I have such an innaproriate reaction to stress, the

most minor things set off major stress reaction and I also cannot wind down if

I am overstimulated by what is called " positive stress " like being with

people in a social situation, talking, etc.

The doctor called the lab and spoke with chemist and his eyes glazed over,

because there was some kind of very complicated explanation involving hormones

and sleep cycle that he said might cause results to be the way they were. So

as a result I am VERY reluctant to get tests done, as the money comes out of my

own pocket and it is frustrating when a test proves useless.

I was on hydrocodone(generic Cortef) which I talked my regular primary care

doc into reluctantly prescribing. He kept arguing and cautioning me that if I

took this then my adrenals would stop working completely and depend on the

drug and I would have to take it my whole life. Well, I took it for half a

year,

and nothing really changed at all

either for positive or negative. I have taken rhodiola, but seems like I had

a bad reaction to it. One thing I do remember taking a while back that seems

like it helped a bit was called Royal Maca (maca maca) Seems like it made me

a bit more resiliant, I think I will send for some more. It all gets very

expensive and one has to pick and chose what to take, can't possibly take

everything that might be helpful. This is a constant hassle and frustration for

me.

I am still looking for something that will help. I do not want to go on

hydrocodone again, and I don't think I could convince my doctor to prescribe it

a

second time.
