*A bottle I had of GABA Calm from Source Naturals, said not to take it with MAO

Inhibitors. Other things that say that mean a very serious reaction.

My GABA bottle does not say this. THis would seem to indicate that either the

Taurine or Tyrosine are the difference with MAO Inhibitors.

*I took extra Grape Seed extract, and became very weak, suspecting drop in blood

pressure. Since, I have learned that it is used to lower blood pressure.

*Tyrosine can make tumors grow faster, especially Melanoma, so contraindicated

for that.

A few things I learned " by accident " .

hey katrina

sorry I didnt catch, do you use GABA? I just got some after reading

some of pall's stuff and took 1/3 cap tonight, dont know yet if will

do anything---i have had bad feeligns from many other aminos like

tyrosine etc, ones that are sposed to stimulate make me feel awful

that is interesing about grapeseed, i was taking it for long time but

went off it couple months ago cus decided to take a break from my

regular supplements after reading so many conflicting reports on

whats good and then some study was out earlier thisyear saying people

who took vitamins died younger or somethingthan those who didnt in

some study; and given marshall plan, and st amand plan etc where they

rec avoiding certain things i thought a break would be good; so

anyway when i went back on grapeseed recently one day it made me feel

bad so will not be starting that again.

currently just use quercertin and milk thistle and sometimes licorice

as most regular supps, going to try gaba d ribose and mag malate, and

maybe add in more and experiment again slowly. Trying to decide if

should take calcium again; conflicted about that as my last 2 bone

density tests in last 7years show getting worse and i think there is

some research saying maybe cal supps actually drain you more than

help you.....i thought maybe should just try to get most vits and

mins f rom good food.

miss id,

I used it a couple of years ago, especially in case it helped tremor, and I used

to take Neurontin. I've tried it again lately for calming CNS, brain, think

there's some help, but take other stuff too. Wonder about studies cited that

it's not crossing blood/brain, but may have other effect.

Sound like you have a good plan in the works.

More studies and NIH CAM actually begin to make it more confusing, but

hopefully, will end up clarifying things.

The food/supplement thing's interesting. Some people may take pills in leu of

the best nourishing food...I've done that myself, not on purpose.

Since we really are low on elements, and some things have helped me, I continue

to take them. I've had to think more about this, since rumors are I will get cut

off from some $$ for my protocol.

I'm having trouble thinking and typing, so kind of short hand.

Personal experience, for me, leads me to believe my body doesn't have sufficient

B-Complex vitamins. And it's been this way for over 20 years. Discovered a

specific brand of stress vitamin that has, B complex vitamins, valerian, hops,

Chinese Skullcap, Eleuthero, L tyrosine Inositol, Passion flower and PABA in

addition to Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Manganese and Potassium. A company

representative told me once 3 at a time could be taken at once and repeated an

hour later for increased stress. I don't think the amounts are excessive at

that rate though the suggested use is one per day. I have found over the years

this to be very good to calm that wound too tight feeling stress often gives.

My own personal rescue rememdy.

I have read in the past adrenal stress requires more B Complex. Thus came to

the conclusion long before I found a Dr. to confirm it that my adrenals were in

trouble. Interesting how that all played out and factored into the whole health

picture I see in myself now....thyroid insufficieny, adrenal fatigue, chronic

lyme disease etc.

I am turning a corner now in my status I think, as recently, greatly increased

stress has not caused a crash and we are nearly 3 weeks into the situation. I

think the vitamins and supplements, suggested by my FFC dr. along with the

medications prescribe have been just the right solution for my needs. Time will

tell. I am managing stress differently these days, too, thanks to the lessons

learned when pacing activity 5 minutes at a time was the standard mode of

operation for me to accomplish anything. So, the experience hasn't been all

bad, just mostly! :-)

The increased stressor, elder care...DH's father, needs to be in a care

facility, but being in command of all his faculties has chosen to stay home and

" let " his children care for him. I'm up right now, middle of the night where I

live, because I got a panic call and had to go check on him. I do know my body

will not tolerate much loss of sleep before it'll rebel. So, I'm headed back to

bed to try to snatch the rest of my 8 hours.

Thank you. Since being diagnosed with CFS in 1991, I have always been low in

magnesium, so I have been taking magnesium ever since. I was taking magnesium

when my blood pressure was still low, I took it while it increased, and I've

continued to take it while it has been high. I appreciate you taking the time

to reply, though.

I had been using for a couple years a liquid grapeseed extract called

GSE by nutribiotic that I got at our local food coop, its organic

I thought it made me feel weird the other day when I tried it after a

couple month break, but thats not very scientific as a lot of things

make me feel weird so its hard to isolate :)

I may try it again later, I am just taking a break from a lot of

things I had been taking regularly to get a handle on where I am at

and clean out. I read lots of good things about gse. I already have

low b/p though so perhaps there is an issue there I hadnt thought of,

maybe it lowers it more which could cause weird feelings.....

good luck

GSE is GRAPEFRUIT SEED extract, not " grape seed " extract. :)

Two completely different things. One from grapefruit seeds -- very, very bitter

and

drying, and grape seeds, which are much less bitter. I for one cannot take GSE

-- it just

makes me instantly (pseudo) hypothyroid -- very cold and tense.

I was just using short hand, forgot the initials are the same.

I definitely mean *Grape Seed Extract*, antioxident, yes, totally different.
