Guest guest
when I had my brain SPECT they said I looked " similar to Alzheimers " (but not actually Alzheimers) but they stated it was toxic solventexposure and FM. (I was intrigued that they could state FM from a scan) this article interesting re immune/blood flow etc in alzheimers and many interesting links from this page. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19168340/ at the end of the article they say that even the healthy nuns/studied had alzheimers detected in their brain???? Guest guest
Hi, Amy. I'm not surprised that a CFS brain is similar to Alzheimer's given that both glutathione and blood flow in the brain are often shown to be reduced in both. I suspect the reduced blood flow might be in part because the cysteine needed from glutathione to make antidiuretic hormone(ADH) is not as available therefore less of this hormone gets made to keep blood volume up to normal. Would you tell us the specific quote or amnormality noted from your brain SPECT report that indicates toxic solvent exposure and FM? I know I had a PET scan of my brain where the report stated asymetrical bilateral hypoperfusion of the thalami, thus indicating poor blood flow.
