Too bad you had to deal with that today!

Here's a little info I have for you in the meantime- I am not sure you can get

an exemption at the Health Dept. You should call first. Ours doesn't handle

exemptions- just the school where your child would attend. And in that case- all

I did was sign a form that I wrote myself stating that we refuse vaccinations

for religious reasons. They do have their own form, but I didn't even want to

bother with what their form might or might not say if they would just accept my

own form instead.

See what your state's laws are here:

http://www.nvic.org/state-site/state-exemptions.htm

Also, a quick reference to vaccine ingredients (per CDC's site and all doctors

can't argue with the CDC!!) is here:

http://www.cdc.gov/nip/vaccine/components/additives.htm

Hi andria --

I'm LingOL about your doctors comment about 3% for weight -- my BF kids were

never even on the chart as toddlers -- they never doubled their birth weight

at 6 months, and never tripled it at a year -- every child is different. As

long as he's growing and putting on weight (no matter how slowly), my ped

would be satisfied -- my ped gets much more concerned when they don't follow

an upward curve for growth.

As for Pediasure -- your right it's garbage -- oils and artificial

ingredients -- nothing to build good health on!

If you're really concerned (and I'm not sure you should be), you can offer

your son an extra snack each day - if he takes it great, if not, he's

listening to his body which is telling him he's not hungry.

Follow your instincts and RUN don't walk to another Dr. The risk is too

great. All doctors are mandatory reporters. I've had contact with a woman

here in town who's children were small for their age and like you, it runs

in the family. She took her children in for a well/baby visit and the nurse

stalled her there until CPS could come. They took the children on the spot.

My son is nine and we stopped doing those so-called well-baby visits long

ago. We get regular chiropractic care and use homeopathy as needed. I will

never visit a doctor again as long as I live and I hope I never find a need

to take my son to one either.

I don't trust the lot of them and if you are smart you won't either.

This is my opinion and I share it freely. Let the buyer beware.

And while I agree with both of you ladies, I think we've discussed on here

before that some of us feel like there needs to be a paper trail of some sort to

" prove " that we're what society would deem " good parents " who seek proper

medical care (yeah, right) for our children.

My sister is doing that with her autistic son. She takes him for all the

appropriate check-ups in case anyone comes snooping around.

All you need are the vaccine inserts. You can tell the doctor next visit to give

you them,or print them off from the computer. You should get that exemption if

you are in a state that requires you to file with the HD.Yes,they probably will

think you are neglectful if you do not return. If it were me I would be shopping

for a new doctor, and getting copies of the medical file prior to the next visit.

I think anything negative that was written for your last visit you can

dispute and have removed. My ds was 4 when he weaned.Ped never even brought it

up.We see ped once a year for well visit unless we had a sick one, then I don't

bother going *extra* for a well check. Skinny side, but absolutely

healthy.Perhaps some organic fats/oils could be added to the diet with no

harm-butter,avacado,flax seed. Check out the family nutrition book by Sears.I

hate it when doctors concentrate on charts, and really don't look at a child to

see if they are healthy.

Not to mention that baby growth charts are old and based on formula-fed

babies, not breastfed babies. Formula-fed babies get bigger faster.

I think the people who have recommended switching doctors are right, if

you can. All pediatricians are not going to have the same perspective

on everything. -Angie

I have read the opposite. I read that breastfed babies put on weight faster in

the beginning when compared to formula fed babies, but they then taper off

around six months old and formula fed babies pass them up.

The growth charts weren't something that we had to worry about, I am about 5'10

and my husband is 6'5, so our boys were both off of the charts, but I had a

friend who is about 5'0 and her husband is about 5'2, they had a baby and of

course she was small. The doctor gave her a hard time about it and kept on

insisting that she needed to do something to make her baby gain weight, I

thought it was ridiculous! If the baby seems dehydrated, listless or shows

other signs of declining health, then I would agree that there is something

wrong. The charts don't take genetics into consideration and should just be

thrown away, IMNSHO

Can a chiropractor fill out the physical exam forms handed out by the school for

parents with vax exemptions? Anyone here know of this happening anywhere? Where

I live, chiropractors aren't taken seriously as REAL doctors even though the

medical training is nearly identical.

I teach driver education here in New Hampshire and my chiropractor is certified

by the state to do physicals. So I don't even need to go to a doctor for that.

He takes care of me and I have not been to a doctor for a very long time. My

grandson is just a month old and his first chiropractor appt. is this coming

Wednesday.

We have always had a family chiropractor. I never thought to ask him or her to

fill out the form. I have forms right now that need to be filled. The school

requires physial exams for certain grades and all three boys are due;

Kindergartan, 2nd and 7th grades. I'll see what our current chiropractor says

about it on Monday. Even if he does agree to do it, (which will surprise me) the

school might be the one to give me a hard time. And then again, maybe not.

Thanks,

Anita

I called my old ped today and asked to get my chart, they said they

usually toss them after 7 years, well it's been right about that

now, errr, she said the puter said they still had my chart but they

had to go look and would c/b. So keep your fingers crossed that they

still have it! Otherwise my mother better have something that she

recorded that in!

I need ink for my printer, what a time to run out! So when I get

was reading those right he is about 12%. I'm also going to print

some stuff from LLL site on extended nursing and how it IS still

beneficial for toddlers.

Tomorrow I plan on calling around looking for a new ped at least to

I LOVE getting a massage prior to an adjustment -- I always feel like the

adjustment lasts longer.

Perhaps you can call or email him about the forms.

Health & blessings,

Safe, powerful, *GREEN* and smart.
